Ricky Stuart - New Eels coach

he may well be the worst coach but no squad in their right mind would carry blokes like Walker, Hicks, Whatuera, Rogers and a few others we had them there to basically fill the numbers...it was simply the worst squad in the comp no matter what people think of the coach.

Most of those were signed during his tenure.

It might have been the worse squad in the comp, but it still should have performed better, and may we have done so under and experienced coach. We will never know.

''It's not just about first grade, it's about the club - that's one thing I'll be driving into the players,'' Stuart said. ''It's not about the individual, it's not about the team, it's about the whole club. We are very much at the start of a huge rebuilding process. We go back to square one, right from the grassroots of it all.

Stuart seems to be suggesting that the efforts behind the scenes were also a failure even though we kept hearing that SK was changing the place for the long term success.

Agree 100% ! Which makes it more odd that we performed better with all those nuffies plus Mortimor and Robson than we did when we got rid of them and strengthened our squad with guys like Sandow and Roberts !

Robson would have been the bloke to keep he is a workmans type Half, the complete opposite of Sandow. Would have been a good combo IMO.
7. Sandow, 6. Robson.

How can you have long term success after less than two years' work?

Bennett was at the Dragons for three years and two years after winning the comp they couldn't even make the finals. They're a shadow of the roster he took over in '09.

Long term success takes long term effort. Brian Smith was here for nearly a decade, and his hard work carried us through only until 2009 - less than four years after he left.

The difference was that our tight forwards were older and weaker since last year, and Hayne missed half the season.

That's the last thing we needed when we were trying to establish a new halves combination and blood a bunch of rookies.

No, you are correct! He was the best thing to ever happen to the club, I apologize for stepping out of line.

No you are correct! We had the best roster in the NRL and should have won back-to-back premierships, I apologise for taking away your scapegoat.

So if in 2013 we play an attractive brand of footy, and are competitive with a great defensive line, are you going to credit RS, or put it down to the signings of lussick and harrison?

How about the continued development of all the young and inexperienced players in the roster? How about combinations continuing to form between all of this year's new players?

If those players continue to develop and combinations gel, it's all due to RS, because the other coach done f**k all with them.

The other coach brought most of them to the club and gave most of them their start in first grade. They're not going to go from rookies to solid first graders overnight.
