4 20k+ games for Storm so far this year which I’d have to think would be a record, fair chance they can crack it again too IMO, maybe even next up with a top of the table game Vs Sharks. If they can solidify their game Vs Warriors as a big crowd game each year in addition to Anzac Day it will be...
As above may be an outside chance of 2nd highest (25,731). Beating the record (28,716) would pretty much need a full sellout, even then I’m not sure the capacity is actually still 30k since the new screens went in.
Anzac Day games since AAMI Park opened:
2011 - 22,694
2012 - 20,333
2013 - 25,480
2014 - 28,716
2015 - 13,948 (Vs Manly)
2016 - 21,223
2017 - 22,153
2018 - 25,731
2019 - 21,539
2021 - 20,320
2022 - 22,696
2023 - 23,469
I think it’ll beat most but certainly not all of these. Given the non-Anzac...
Plenty of people on the western side of the Northern hill at Mt Smart. Begs the question, if they’re letting people sit there anyway why can’t they sell some GA tickets for that end? Likewise the hill in the south-western corner has a few hundred people sitting there as well.
Even if it’s only...
One of the Sydney clubs that has an event game of their own over Easter works. If not South maybe Parra.
Sydney has an Anzac game so keep a game in Melbourne & Auckland each year, then I’d add an Anzac eve game in Canberra.
I think a couple elevated temp stands North end either side of the scoreboard behind the fanzone would be the perfect solution. Bonus points if a permanent south stand is built with a roof.
Plus maybe a big game at Eden park once the Warriors bar is up and running.
If all teams threaten to leave unless it gets rectangularised then it may help. If the government is staring down the barrel of an 83k stadium with no full time tenants then they may take action. If Bulldogs plan ever starts to take shape then it’s a very real possibility.
I do like the idea of...
I think 60k would probably be about the right size for Auckland for All-Blacks & big concerts. 50k would probably be better for the Warriors but if they actually build it with the “club mode” to curtain off stands it could work for everyone.
Side note the A-League club owner wants a 20k...
Yeh agree with this, the fancy roof I could take or leave as long as it covers most/all seats, but the stands look a bit weird in every shot I’ve seen.
A bigger QCB with one tier at the bay end giving the island view.
As someone with zero to f**k-all knowledge of Auckland, the Quay Park one looks the best? Looks expensive too though, if they can reign in the design a bit maybe it won’t be so bad.
- City location so not far from bars/restaurants.
- Next to existing indoor Arena so a chance to create a “sports...
Auckland stadium: Downtown, Waterfront or Eden Park? Deadline looming for main stadium decision
A decision on the best future option for Auckland’s main stadium will be made next month.
It was originally due to be earlier but the timetable has been revised, due to further due diligence being...
As @yakstorm said significant improvements on their last fixtures against Bulldogs and 6pm Friday. Melbourne will be 4/5 20k+ for their first 5 homes games which has definitely never happened before. I’d be surprised if they’ve gotten 4 20k+ crowds in a regular season before tbh, maybe last year...
Anything Broncos could do to convert sell outs for the bigger games to crowds closer to 50k? Is the difference just member no shows?
Great crowds either way, Broncos on their way to their best season for crowds this century, 2nd best ever season is doable.
In that video at 2:23 it says “Roar A-League Men’s and women’s venue”. Roar have taken a game there I see, still most at Suncorp but could become more with a decent upgrade.
