A player lying flat on his back with a defender on top of him isnt held all of a sudden?

What a shocking call. So frustrating as a fan to have these decisions happen every game.

The refs this year,despite all the hype, are as bad as ever. A try like that can just ruin the game.

I disagree with that ruling, but I can understand it too given that they let them try forever to ground the ball if initially held up.

That said, if the ball is still alive the referee is under no obligation to call held until the ball carrying arm touches the ground or the ball can no longer be offloaded.

What Warren is rabbiting on about doesn't come into it because the player has to be on the ground untouched, whereas Scott was brought to the ground by the defence.

Interesting. He had enough time to flip back over and then prop the ball up... seems like an awfully long time.
