Interesting to note that the try the Tigers scored tonight was also an obstruction play that went to the video ref who ruled it a try.

No consistency whatsoever.

Part of the rule is that the obstruction has to have an effect on the try being scored. Given that Norman got over in time to be wrong-footed by Rapana's step, I can't see how that's true in this instance.

If he wasn't obstructed he would have been able to get his body in front of Rapana, and there wouldn't have been the opportunity to be wrong footed on the slide.

Just because he managed to recover somewhat and make an attempt at the tackle doesn't mean the decoy didn't stop him getting into the right position.

That's why it was ruled no try.

Give that decision to the video ref who made the ruling for the Warriors last week and it's a try.
