Id run the NSW cup/reserve grade team out of Perth not East coast. Those players are mostly contracted and need to be training with the first team. There's 36 contracted NRL players, that will probably go to 40 when reserve grade is reintroduced. They should all be living and training in Perth. Flegg could be on East coast and SG ball and HM in both.
NSW Cup players don’t train with their NRL counterparts now, the cost of flying both NRL and NSW Cup teams across to NSW would be ridiculous.
You wouldn’t have a NSW Cup side in WA to fly them across, these guys are not full time players, they have jobs, they would be exhausted, only the players who didn’t make the final Perth Bears NRL line up for that weekend would be flown across like the Storm currently does with their feeder clubs the Bears, Brissy Tigers and Sunshine Coast Falcons.
The Bears name their NSW Cup side late Tuesday afternoon as do the NRL sides, then is the Bears are playing at 3pm on Sunday they release their final run on team at 2pm, one hour before kick off and that is when there are usually four or five Storm players added to the 18 made squad.
There are major obstacles for a full National reserve grade competition, the Redcliffe Dolphins are the only Hostplus Qld Cup side who match their NRL counterparts, there are 14 other clubs who are dead against it.
