It's a moot argument because everyone has a different interpretation of what constitutes "great".

On my scale, Luke Pattern doesn't come close.

Maybe, but i think you underestimate Diamond Phillips. The guy single-handedly kept us in the 2000 GF and was probably the best player on the ground. 2002 he played with the worst shoulder injury I've seen (I saw the x-rays, it looked like rats had eaten his shoulder joint away) for at least 6 games and the GF. Probably our best player overall throughout that time. The guy was always up for the big games. To me, he was a great.
