NSW had their chances, but fact is they did some really dumb things in the game -
- Tariq Sims conceding the penalty for taking out Hunt after the play the ball. Regardless of whether or not Hunt did the wrong thing first, in the comtext of the game, it was a completely stupid thing to do. The resulting penalty saw Holmes score his second try;
- David Klemmer's trip in the second half. Cancelled out what looked like was going to be a third try for New South Wales;
- Paul Vaughan only being used for 25 minutes in the game. We struggled to make metres yet we leave one of our only specialist props, and one of the game's best metre gainers on the bench for 55 minutes? Completely dumb.
- Tyrone Pechey hogging the ball late in the second half. Don't know how many times he got the ball instead of Maloney or Cleary in the last 15 minutes. Also, does he ever run straight?; and
- The constant going down the right hand side in attack. I know Qld got two intercepts on the left hand side, but it seemed to make them too scared to run plays for Latrell Mitchell. If they stopped throwing cut-out passes, then the intercepts may not have happened. Further as Roberts made 25 tackles to Mitchell's 7 (according to Fox Sports) then surely Mitchell should have been fresh for attack.
Fact is Qld minimised their mistakes and retained their composure which is why they won last night.
