It's at the stage that, despite the agendas being played in wanting him gone, the game needs him to go so it can move on and get past this petty political bullshit.

He should have had the decency to resign when the club funding deal was originally pulled after the NRL discovered they couldn't afford it, he originally made that funding deal to satisfy clubs, and then restored it to save himself. He's a coward.

If Grant is to fall on his sword... he needs to be replaced by another independently appointed qld person. To think otherwise is showing clear bias towards a Sydney centric game, that will never grow beyond the nsw establishment.

Katie Page would do a brilliant job and should have been the inaugural chair. Doubt she would want it though.

They wanted to appoint her, but because of the "no connections to a club for 3 years" rule they brought in for the commissioners, she was ruled ineligible for appointment.

And rightly so ineligible. If she was selected I'm guessing any Harvey Norman sponsorship/deal done would of been done at mates rates. Similar to gallop and news ltd. She has since funded and sponsored afl teams. Yes great person to have as our commissioner.

She was ruled ineligible primarily because she was on the NRL Board, as an appointee of news corp.

Sooo..... you want a ex news ltd appointed board member, afl club sponsor to be a commissioner? Hmmm does gallop ring a bell?

Part of the commission being independent was the conditions around the elected commission members. As you pointed out they couldn't hold a position within the game for a period of time. As well as that the nswrl and qrl had picks of there own and the other had to agree on them. Now taking a qld elected position away from the Arlc board is clearly tilting it into a biased direction. How can you not see this?

So they are biased if they are from nsw, but not biased if they are from qld? The commission appoints commissioners and elects a chairperson, it has nothing to do with where they are from or who previously held the role.

The game has already had a former AFL commissioner on the ARLC, who being from Victoria would presumably meet your criteria of being objective. Try finding a well credentialed candidate from an Australian top 100 business that hasn't sponsored AFL in some way, or League for that matter. News Corp owned the game, she wouldn't have been appointed without their support, doesn't mean she is beholden to them. Katie Page is a Qlder btw, as is her husband.

I'm saying it would be biased to nsw if a qld elected board member was removed and nsw got to chose the next member. If the qrl chose the next commissioner (even if it is Katie page) and the nswrl agree with it I have no problem. The removal of Grant is being done by nsw clubs. The last thing they should get to do is dictate who the new member should be.

so we can have another dickhead that only gives a rats about three clubs

Those 3 clubs you talk about make up more than there fair share of player numbers. I'd say close to 4/5. Don't lump storm into the ego driven Sydney club culture. Newy are nrl owned so they don't count either.
