I don't mind it him speaking out in puplic. Its not the way I know but he is 100% correct in everything he said. At least someone should have called him to give him clarity and a reason, I suspect there was none.

He will probably never be picked again, UNLESS the current selectors are sacked

He's right to be confused. He and Bird were the backup quicks when the Shield ended - there have been no more Shield games since that squad was picked. How has Richardson suddenly jumped him? They have bowled exactly zero red balls between them in that time.

I haven't seen enough to comment on Sayers vs Richardson, but generally the dearth of red-ball cricket is a real problem imo

And selectors seem to specialise in mind blowing selections atm

Playing it out in the media is his mistake. Even in the days when warne hated steve Waugh and warne had it in for Gilly and everyone else wished warne would walk into a helicopter blade it was largely kept in house.

Look at guys from the past like Andy Bichel or even Brett Lee for 12 months or so post getting dropped - they bided their time and kept trying to improve before eventually getting their shot.

Look at guys from the past like Andy Bichel or even Brett Lee for 12 months or so post getting dropped - they bided their time and kept trying to improve before eventually getting their shot.

Agree with you Sayers his mistake doing it in the media, but in this case I respect him for it. He did try to call Trevor Hohns but the merkin didn't reply to his call.

Sayers unlike Bichel and Lee didn't have a chance to play for Australia and be dropped that way nor were they ever dropped for a nobody (5 fc games?? picked on some t20 form?), plus back then we generally picked on form and those who deserved to be there.

I think we all agree, doing in the media was wrong, and it will probably cost Sayers.

At lease Sutherland acknowledged he should have been given a call.

Well from all reports Sayers was in the team ahead of Bird last season in the Pink Ball test.

Instead he was left out the morning of the game and wasn’t told why.

Then here again he is the back up and unlucky to miss out but then gets leap frogged for a 21 yr old who has pretty much done SFA but play for that space cadet JL.

I can see why he is pissed and not even a call, it’s poor form from hohns but what else would you expect from that arrogant old fossil. His time was up a decade ago how he and G Chappell got back into the set up is mind boggling.

Sooking in the media is not the why to go but if that f**kstick Hohns won’t even answer his calls he probably thinks this was his only option.
