As much as I'd love to see the Bears back, there's no way that this is going to happen. If Manly do fall over, it'll be an interstate expansion team that takes their place.
As for a Beagles reunion: you'd sooner see Israel and Palestine amalgamate.

Which club is Israel and which one is Palestine in this scenario?

If Manly fold - then it is a tough decision that the NRL don't have to make down the track. It is sad, yes but if they can't cut it then the NRL have a few options:

  • hand the license to an expansion bid: Perth or Brisbane 2
  • resurect the Sea Eagles brand and colours on the Central Coast
  • leave them in NSW Cup permanently playing out of Brooky
  • put them in NSW Cup but playing out of somewhere like Adelaide. When Adelaide is ready for an NRL team in a decade or two, then the Sea Eagles will be ready to go after having done years and years of ground work
Either way, the NRL should take the chance to create more space in Sydney for the other NRL clubs. They can then not be blamed for axing a team - the blame will fall on Manly's shoulders for running their club into the ground.

Over to you Stallion - lol

The raucous lol came just after the "more space " line! Absolutely defeatist and reckless! But you knew that? I just had to state it.

IF and ONLY if Manly are unable to continue by their own doing

The NRL should rebuild the Northern Eagles at Gosford, but with a different name and with no share of ownership from either Bears or Manly.
The new club would represent the Central Coast and Northern Sydney, Manly and Norths NSW Cup could be independent feeder clubs if they wanted to be relevant to the top grade still.

What would Albert say about this?
