Daly Cherry-Evans will step into the spotlight in the biggest possible way for Queensland after Maroons halfback Cooper Cronk was ruled out of game two in Melbourne with a knee injury.
The Queensland matchwinner will miss three-four weeks after scans revealed a meniscus tear in his right knee. He was to undergo surgery on Tuesday morning.
Cronk was injured in Melbourne's 20-0 win over the Panthers on Saturday night and original indications suggested he would be available for game two at the MCG, where Queensland will try to wrap up the series.
After pulling up well on Sunday morning and medical staff confident the injury would respond well to treatment during the week, Cronk woke on Monday morning with the knee feeling worse and was sent for scans.
Playing any further would put Cronk at risk of further damaging his knee, so surgery to repair the tear was decided as the best course of action.

It's now possible to have both Daly Cherry Evans and Michael Morgan in the side. The other option is choosing Ben Hunt over Cherry Evans, but from Mal Meninga comments being a big fan of Daly Cherry Evans, I doubt that option will happen.
