Going with Daly was the right call.

He is a gun player in very good form, has been in and around origin for a few years now and gets to play his first game as starting halfback whilst fully fit next Wednesday.

It would have been very NSW-like to scrap him.

You also have to remember that DCE turned his back for Manly as well, which would have contributed to the boos.

manly struggle to fill out their own stadium let alone have fans in another state

or are we saying the bronco's can't make noise at their own stadium?

Yes I agree, he deserves another go as last time his prep wasn't the best and word is that Cronk wasn't as helpful as he could be.

State of Origin 2015: Billy Slater to play Game II in what could be final match of 2015 season
Staff writers FOX SPORTS June 10, 2015 6:41PM

QUEENSLAND fullback Billy Slater will play in Origin II next Wednesday night despite a left shoulder injury but that could be his last match of the season.

Although Darius Boyd trained at fullback on Wednesday, Slater is expected to wear the No. 1 jersey for the Maroons before going under the knife to repair his chronic shoulder complaint.

Triple M’s Ben Dobbin told NRL360 on Wednesday that the Melbourne star will run out onto the MCG on June 17, however the Origin match is set to be the last game he plays in 2015.

“Slater will play game two of State of Origin this year but it could be his last game of the season,” Dobbin said. “His shoulder is absolutely no good.

“If he makes it through Game Two I don’t believe that he will take his place at the Melbourne Storm for the remainder of the season.

“If I was Laurie Daley and the coaching staff, who would you be targeting front and centre? Billy Slater.”

Slater was sidelined for a month and missed the ANZAC Test after being crunched in a tackle by Warriors winger Manu Vatuvei while playing for the Storm in early April.

It was bad luck for Slater, who underwent reconstruction surgery on his other shoulder in the off-season.

Slater, whose Storm contract ends this year, has missed the last two games for his club but had hoped to make it through the season with surgery to follow afterwards.

Maroons medical staff are keeping a close eye on Slater, who is believed to be having trouble sleeping due to the pain of the injury.

Interesting that Boyd is covering at Fullback. They must want to keep the strong combo of Hodges and Chambers together on the right edge.

that right side of thaiday, hodges works well with Cronk giving it service for several years. DCE has had little time to be the primary play maker inside Thaiday and Hodges, both at training and in games. This week is the first real opportunity he has had to work with them consistently. Would've thought Hunt was the better fit, but I guess Hagan knows what he's doing.

I think the more interesting aspect is Boyd covering FB rather than the obvious choice in INglis. Hagan doesn't want to break up Thurston & Inglis on the left side. Even though Guerra is a relatively new starter here, having Inglis just roaming outside Thurston as a receiver or decoy and attracting defensive attention either way, and with Jono's ability to disguise what he's going to do, it provides several tactics and options on this left edge which NSW need to prepare for which are too good for Hagan to give up. Moving Inglis away from here severely lessens the left edge threat.

inglis getting shunted is a testament to josh morris's defensive ability

what do you mean by getting shunted?

They didn't in Game 1 but QLD still historically score points down their left edge. The fact they do without Inglis grounding the ball over the paint for several games is testament to how the NSW right-side is consumed with Inglis and it creates options inside and outside him. Boyd has scored plenty of tries in Origin over the last few years.

Just because one player seems to not be playing well or having little impact does not necessarily mean that he's not doing his job. Hagan strategises with the fact that Inglis IS the focus of the NSW right-side defence.
