Uate puts his hands between legs, and drives him head first into the turf. Nothing.

Taylor never put his hands between the legs, and flipped him.

It was careless, but look at the conditions.

4 weeks? Get Pharked.

It's a joke and just shows again the match review committee will use a Souths player as an example, everyone remembers the Issac suspension a few years back and how ridiculous that was but I remember the 1999 one where Trindell did something similar to what Gallen did in origin 2 but with less impact and got 7 weeks and wiped us out for the year when we were looking good to make the finals.

Remember when the whole leading with the feet when someone was scoring Merritt was made an example of then no one has got the 2 weeks he got ever for that. The Nrl is a joke and is rotten the core.

lol, can't believe 4 weeks. Especially after some of the tackles they have let go. Deserves a suspension though.

Rabbitohs and Queensland forward Dave Taylor could miss the Harvey Norman State of Origin decider at Suncorp Stadium on July 6 after he was today charged with a Grade 2 Dangerous throw by the NRL’s Match Review Committee.

Taylor’s tackle on Broncos forward Scott Anderson happened in the 5th minute of the Rabbitohs 16-12 victory over Brisbane at nib Stadium in Perth.

Taylor is facing four weeks on the sidelines with an early guilty plea.

The Grade 2 Dangerous throw carries a base penalty of 325 points, but prior offences have come back to haunt the Queensland forward.

A similar offence within the last two years and another previous tackle is the reason Taylor has 70% loading on his charge.

The charge comes after the match review committee was today shown several angles of the incident, with an angle directly behind the tackle appearing to be the most damning.

The Rabbitohs and Taylor will have until midday Tuesday to notify the NRL whether or not they want to contest the charge.

In the event that the Rabbitohs challenge either the grading or the charge, a judiciary hearing will be held on Wednesday night at NRL Headquarters in Moore Park.

RABBITOHS forward Dave Taylor could be ruled out of the Origin decider after being slapped with a four-week ban for a dangerous throw charge.

Taylor was charged with a grade two dangerous throw by the NRL’s match review committee, for his tackle on Broncos forward Scott Anderson in the early stages of the South Sydney’s win over Brisbane in Perth.
The charge carries a base penalty of 325 points, but a poor record – with a similar offence within the last two years and previous tackle – has given Taylor a 70 per cent loading on his charge.
The Rabbitohs and Taylor have until noon tomorrow to notify the NRL whether they will contest the charge.
A judiciary hearing could be held on Wednesday night at NRL Headquarters in Moore Park.
Sydney Roosters forward Frank-Paul Nuuausala was the only other player charged, after being accused of making dangerous contact with his knees, and will miss one match with the early guilty plea.

Even with priors, I could cop a week for it, two at the absolute worst.

If the club does not fight this one, Richo may as well pack his bags this week.

It didn't look good but Anderson got straight back up, there was no penalty & it could also be argued that Anderson put himself in such a poor position to break his fall.
Conspiracy theories aside it'll bit a misuse of the judicary system should he get suspended.

Wheyman got 5 weeks last year and the Taylor tackle was worse than his.

In saying that he probably deserves 2 or 3.

Look on the bright side, we get another week or so of the Queenslanders whinging about conspiracies which should be entertaining.

Get a good QC (and get the Maroons to pay for it)
Claim ground conditions and Sutton's influence in the tackle and I reckon he's a show at getting off.
They were not normal playing conditions and normal rules should not apply
Agree with the Uate comparisons
Good luck
Oh and I'm a blues and Dragons supporter but this is pure crap

Not much difference between 4 and 5, we really have nothing to lose so we have to fight it. I'll be disappointed if we don't.

Another fact in our favour should be that neither ref thought enough of the incident to even give a penalty for it. That tells you there's nothing in it, they were metres away and saw it in real time and decided it was ok. The judiciary should do the same.

:xAbsolute disgrace, the NRL is more corrupt than FIFA.
News Ltd still runs the game, and they have not forgotten that we made them look stupid in court.
Slater continually tackles knees in,Uate did a worse tackle and was let off, this decision should be referred to ICAC.
Total utter corruption ANTI RABBITOHS NRL!!!!

Dave Taylor to cop ban and miss Origin III

QUEENSLAND are set to spare the public a repeat of the Johnathan Thurston judiciary saga, with forward Dave Taylor resigned to missing one of the most anticipated Origin deciders in memory.

The Daily Telegraph understands the Rabbitohs have all but accepted Dave Taylor will be found guilty of a dangerous throw on Broncos prop Scott Anderson on Friday, although the club last night refused to comment on the incident.

Souths will announce this morning if they intend to fight the match review panel's five-match suspension - Taylor's punishment if found guilty of a grade two dangerous throw - but a source close to Taylor said any challenge at the judiciary would be focused solely on seeking a downgrade.

That would rule the 22-year-old out of State of Origin III at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday.

"They're philosophical enough to know it isn't going to be easy to get him off," the source said. "We'll look at everything tonight to see what grounds we have, but everyone thinks all we can do is get it downgraded."

Taylor will today be named in a 19-man squad by Maroons coach Mal Meninga, but the Queensland camp will be preparing for the decider under the assumption they will be without the 118kg wrecking ball.

According to NRL rules, a dangerous throw has been committed if a player is lifted and placed in a position where it is likely his head or neck will be the first part of his body to hit the turf.

It is likely Souths will argue the hulking forward could not avoid the result of the pile-driving tackle on Anderson because of the soaking wet conditions in Perth on Friday night.

Taylor will be sidelined until round 23 if he is unsuccessful at the judiciary but an early guilty plea will cut his suspension to four matches.

It remains to be seen whether Queenslanders will repeat the howls of indignation that accompanied Thurston's visit to the judiciary.

But match-review committee chairman Greg McCallum yesterday said he was ready to stand his ground on the tackle. "It was a unanimous decision," he said yesterday. "There's never any consideration for what kind of games are coming up."

Match-review panelists McCallum, Brad Clyde and Peter Louis handed down the severe punishment because of Taylor's poor disciplinary record. He has also been pinged for a dangerous throw and a dangerous high tackle in the previous two years.

Meninga previously admitted Taylor put Anderson in a dangerous position, but reiterated the party line that Taylor should be acquitted because NSW winger Akuila Uate was given a grade one charge for a similar tackle before Origin I.

Taylor's manager Col Davis said he was disappointed his player could be rubbed out of such a massive occasion for a tackle that was not penalised by referees at the time.

Already facing an injury crisis in the forwards, the Rabbitohs season could be further compromised tomorrow night at the judiciary if they decide to fight the charge.

Former Queensland captain Gorden Tallis described the decision to charge Taylor as "laughable".

"Dave faces four to five weeks for a dangerous tackle, but Uate gets off? It makes our game look like a joke," he said.
