And who are you again??? I know it’s been a tough couple of days for the Bea Arthur cheer squad but let’s not say anything terse that we can’t take back.

And good suggests he’s above average which is simply not the case. He has too many faults in his coaching to be good. Tactically he is poor with still no idea how to rotate a bench. His refusal to surround himself with better assistants and being capable of been able to delegate means he’ll be nothing more than average. His man management is his strength and his ability to get players to buy in are what he does best. Well besides this year where I just think he’s been there far too long. I know he was a pillar of strength throughout the salary cap scandal and showed what sort of bloke he was a lot of others would have run and he took it head on. But the way he has been built up it was like no coach could have done any better which is just absolutely false.

Is the club is a better place then when he arrived that’s a definite yes but once again we are in the bottom 4 and our depth and pathways are a mess. This is all not on him and if I had my way MON and Rogers could of held his hand and they could of walked out together.
This is exactly how I see him.

I would like to add, he appears super stubborn to me.

But I do agree, he is a great guy and great person, just very limited in his football nous relatively

What I found interesting in his interview on NRL360 was his admission about the lead up to the GF in 22. He allowed the squad to enjoy it too much - even though he was advised by Bellamy and Ennis to focus on the game.

We celebrated making the GF. Repeated the same mistakes from the 70's!

Good bloke, but not a great coach.
Penrith did the same thing in 2020 and got punished for it i reckon they enjoyed making the GF and Melbourne made them pay. Penrith though have been ruthless enough to get back there 3 years straight after the defeat.

The storm were up 26-0 remember after like 60 mins.

Unfortunately our problem is we get to 1 GF get beat then wait for another generation of players to get there again and go through the same issues.

Manly in 2007 got rissoled by Melbourne they bounced back in 2008 & 2011 with the majority of players were still there learning from there experience in 2007.

There is no perfect prep for a GF i suppose you could be uptight and more intense and backfire as well. Then you could say they weren't relaxed enough like 2001 when Newcastle were laughing and giggling all the way through the week and we were uptight with a stick up our arses.

And Cleary even had previous GF experience……Bellamy lost his first as favourites

I found that interesting too.

But for mine, you listen to advice and make your own judgement based on other factors you are privvy to.

Unfortunately for BA, he made the wrong decision. But you live and learn and that's why they call it experience.
I think the Townsville game took a lot out emotionally & mentally as much as physically. We did something none of them had done before.

I know i was pumped for that whole weekend after we won that & could barely sleep imagine how the players would have been.

We played our GF the week before.

Penrith were ruthless anyway i think if we were at our best we probably still fall short they played a perfect half of footy i doubt any other side comes close.

Its interesting all the opinions on "What you need to do during GF week" make it sound as if you need some sort of specialised method to be on your "A" game.

I think the key is focusing on what not to do. Game day is 80% luck and 20% what you didn't do. You can't really control the excitement and nerves around the club. Just need to channel it and be as consistent as you can.

Your opponents even if they are in there 3rd straight are probably just as nervous and excited.

No perfect method.

I remember playing cricket as a junior in finals we would always bowl first as the plan was the other team would be just as nervous and only takes 1 mistake as a batsman and your gone. You can always fix up the nerves in the field and not let the game get away.

But batting first if your 4/20 after 35 mins its almost game over. While fielding you can keep it under some sort of control weather changing bowlers and what not.

But then the other theory as you get older is runs on the board and the chasing team feels the pinch of what is required.

It's odd that people are finding reasons to shit on BA now about that GF. As you say, it's easy to be wise in hindsight.

People talk about this Penrith team as being the best team for 50 years, yet others will pile on BA and say that it's his fault we don't have a title. "Just enjoy the week" is something that is said EVERY year to GF and SOO players, so for people to now say he should have known better is ridiculous.

Frankly he deserves praise for the game plans that got his team victories over Penrith during the years when other teams absolutely could not.

TCT was funny. He said, if there was no Penrith, we would've won the comp

that’s not exactly what they said, they said if it wasn’t for the panthers, BA may have been able to get the premiership!

which considering panthers knocked us out 2 years in a row, and they are the greatest side of the last 40 teams years…..isn’t exactly untrue…..

How do we determine if they spoke honestly? We will most likely never know...

I thought they did ok. I am just confused by the timing. They know more than I do, so I am sure it will all make sense soon...hopefully..
When did Demitriou get sacked?
Anyone know the date?
I cant be assed looking it up 'cause I am at work and busy.

You know this place, can never miss a chance to lay the boot into BA or the TCT. The TCT do great work and i have no idea why anyone would want to shit on them for doing what they love and bring the content they do to us. Don't like it, don't listen!

It seriously hasn't changed in the last 1 to 2 years that i've been gone.

I thought i would come back to sunshine and rainbows now that BA is gone.......appears not.

I look forward to shitting on the upcoming coach search, signing of the shit coach and then when we lose the first game next year, said shit coach not being up to the job........it's very exciting!

Not sure.

However I reckon Souths have had one eye on Bennett since halfway through last season.

A merkin who is involved in footy said to me this morning.

Bennett installed Demitriou as his successor and was part of the decision to let Adam Reynolds go.

"Unfinished business" at Souths means more than you think at first glance. He probably feels responsible for their slide after he left. Parra had no chance.

The 1.2m per season makes the "unfinished business" all the more palatable.

If Souths won in 2021 do you reckon he would still have unfinished business.

They were a Cody walker intercept from winning it.
