The Reds are in discussions with two former NRL coaches for the position of head coach for next season with Dever moving to assistant coach.

The WARL are in discussions with a number of NRL teams about setting up a feeder club partnership for the Reds with an NRL team from next year.

Negotiations continue with Sth Sydney re playing games in Perth next year

A pre season NRL game is likely to be played here next season.

Is there any Sydney teams without a JB/NSW cup feeder agreement?

There are only 3 JBC teams that dont have relationships with clubs in the NSW Cup or the NRL - Mounties, Cabramatta and the Reds.

The relationships are as follows:

Windsor and Wenty have teams in both NSW Cup (JV's with Penrith and Parra) and JBC.

Sydney Bulls have connections with the Bulldogs
Shellharbour feed St George NRL
Belrose have connections with Manly
Erina have connections with Central Coast Storm
Southern Sharks have connections with Cronulla Cobras
Campbeltown have connections with Wests Magpies
Chester Hill feed Newtown

Results in the semi finals are as follows:

Week 1
Bulls 34 beat Mounties 14
Shellharbour 24 beat Cabramatta 18

Week 2
Bulls 62 beat Windsor 12
Mounties 45 beat Shellharbour 28

It would be good if the Storm comes on board,at least we have an "insider" since Kim Williams is in Melbourne.

interesting. i know the knights are possibly in the market for a new "feeder" in the JBC due to the complete lack of success of the partnership they currently have in the NSW Cup with the Central Charlestown Knights.

The article made mention of the feeder club link up being in place to allow them to move up to the NSW cup in 2010. Original idea was to go up through the Q'land cup so maybe it is a Sydney team hence the new focus on the NSW cup?

Hard to see how this would benefit Sydney based Clubs

Having their players on the other side of the country every second week would be vey hard to administer and hard for the NRL Club to keep tabs on them - how their form/injuries etc... were going.

It would only work for players who are in the 25 man squad but not considered likely enough for 1st grade. Many NRL Clubs have two feeder Clubs, or loan players out to a better standard comp if they are close to 1st Grade selection - eg. St George send players to Burleigh rather than Shellharbour. As it is, many of these fringe players are by-passed for Toyota Cup players anyway.

The Reds would be far better off being a stand-alone entity in the Qld Cup - but I can understand that this may not suit economically, and linking with an NRL Club would be a far cheaper way of cutting costs and acquiring good players.

Totally understandable decision if it pans out that way, but not the best one.

I think the reality is we do not have the strength at the moment to move up to Q'land cup or NSW cup and in reality if we waiting to develop local players to that level it could take 5-10 years. As we are trying to fast track our way to the NRL within 5 years it is likely we see this as the cheapest and easiest way to bring in some high quality players for a lower amount of money.

Storm have a feeder club in Q'land so the practicalities are do able and it would give the NRL club a chance to look at some local players and maybe unearth a few WA nuggets that could go on to play for them.

The Storm feeder club is the Central Coast Storm. For many years Brisbane Norths were the feeder but there is now no relationship.
