Lol, Ravs can be good, but IMO the sign of a classy player is consistancy, not the hot/cold thing. In that respect personally I'd opt for Fein over Ravs anytime in a team I was picking.

On the NRL site is says that Fien has been allowed to shop around. But the club would like him to finish at the end of 2009. But he will be released if he finds a deal he wants.

Maybe Fien's having another sulk like the time he went back to hooker when Rovelli got given a start, and he went to the media about not been given a fair chance.

Big mistake by the Warriors here. Especially if they plan on replacing Fien with Head.

Stupid stuff by Hart... I mean Cleary.

Scurrah has said we are not in any kind of talks with Head.

I suspect our halves next season will be Rovelli and Moon, with Henderson and Hohaia interchanging at hooker, and Witt kicking goals for the Vulcans.

FIEN GRANTED PERMISSION BY VODAFONE WARRIORS TO APPROACH OTHER CLUBS
Auckland, New Zealand, July 23, 2008 – Experienced utility Nathan Fien has been granted permission by the Vodafone Warriors to approach other clubs before coming off contract at the end of the 2009 NRL season.
Fien, who has made 86 appearances for the Vodafone Warriors since joining the club for the 2005 season, said he wanted to investigate continuing his career at another club.
“I’m really happy in Auckland and so is my family but this is the way football business goes,” he said.
“I’ve been told I’m not a part of the plans at the Vodafone Warriors after 2009. With that in mind, I’ve asked whether I can have a look at the market and that if something comes up, the club would look at a release. I want to secure the future for my family.
“While there has already been talk linking me with other clubs, I’m contracted to the Vodafone Warriors until the end of 2009 at this stage.
“I wanted to stay on after that but I really appreciate the way the Vodafone Warriors have gone about this.”
Vodafone Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah said Fien, who turns 29 on August 1, remained part of the planned NRL roster next year.
“Nathan has given the club fantastic service,” he said.
“But we’ve let him know well in advance that, at this stage, he doesn’t feature in our plans for 2010 and beyond.
“We thought it was only fair to give him an honest view of how we see things as early as possible so it gives him plenty of time to secure a long-term future.”
Scurrah said the club wanted Fien to see out his contract.
“But as he has been told he’s not in our future plans, he has asked us whether he and his manager can sound out other opportunities in the meantime and we’ve allowed him to do so,” he said.
“Nathan is aiming to play football at the highest level for some time yet and we will do what we can to support him in securing the best contract he can.”
Fien will again line up for the Vodafone Warriors at standoff against Melbourne this Sunday, a game that will take his NRL career tally to 178 appearances.

Another masterstroke from Hart

Fein, 1 of the most consistent players, and covering very well in a position that has been attrocious and has no depth, is not wanted while the other under performers are kept on board

Have you guys actually read the report? He isn't wanted 2010 onwards. He is still wanted this season and the next.

Yep, read and understood the report fully, and still think it is a very dumb move

He has been told if he can find an offer he can go, i doubt he will have any trouble finding a decent one, so i doubt he will be there next year

Moon, Witt, Rovelli and ??? doesn't really offer much depth in the halves

It seems the club's farcical promise to Moon to be the 5/8th is having far reaching consequences.

Can't believe this is legit. Why on earth would any team in their right mind tell Fein he was not required first when there's at least one more obvious half to tell that to.
Good luck to the guy, if he's in another NRL team that could come back to haunt us (Like other players let go that shouldn't have been)!
If the Warriors have a Masterplan, can't see it yet with who they've signed! ;-)
