Final verdict on Copley

He performed pretty well tonight, no knock ons and let the more experienced player in Hoffman command a lot of the ball. I think he should be given the chance in Yow Yehs absence.

Well, he didn't really do anything wrong. So that's always good.

He didn't really do much of anything though. Reed didn't seem interested in passing it to him.

Well the one time they kicked to him he didn't come up with the ball so...

Did well with his returns though. Attacked the ball and gave us good momentum.

Didn't look overly confident I thought. He had a decent night tonight nothing silly and was solid. He will improve and if Hook thinks he is the guy for the job I am going to back him.

I guess he was solid and that's all that was required for tonight.

Still would like to see Gagai in there though.

he dropped the one bomb that went his way..luckily it went straight into reeds arms. He has good returns as he's strong and has good foot work, but you can tell he's a centre playing on the wing. He's obviously not gonna get dropped, but gagai should be there

I agree. If the final verdict comes down to Copley doing mostly nothing and dropping a bomb, with Gagai not even getting a crack at it, then something is wrong.

I must have missed the games when Gagai proved himself good enough to be a regular in first grade??

Reed not passing to Copely reminds me of when Tate never passed to Minto. Dale is a QLD cup player

I'm admittedly a Gagai supporter and wanted him on the paddock last night> I also think that he wasn't flash and dropped the one bomb sent his way (Hoffman actually did worse), but he that wasn't bad either. Like others say, he's clearly a centre playing wing. A few good hitups is all he really has to his credit last night.

Wanting a final verdict on him after this one game is just silly, regardless of the fact he played plenty of first grade already!

On a separate note, how much better was Beale on the right wing though?
Too bad he doesn't have any impact when running the ball on kick returns or from dummy half.

Drop him and get Gagai in there. He has nothing in attack.
Is that seriously your criticism of Copley? He's shaky under the high ball and prone to some bad misreads in defence, but he's actually a strong runner of the ball and would probably prove to be capable attacking center if given enough time.

That's not to say I'm in the Copley camp. I'd rather Gagai, but comparisons to Minto and critiques like Rider's above don't really make any sense.

What's funny about that? What does it take to get a shot at an NRL game? Gagai killed it in the trials this year and looked much stronger than Copley.

Anthony Griffin seems to think differently. Copley has been equally as good in Q cup from all reports. Gagai gets plenty of hype I hope he can live up to it.

Brisbane seem light on for specialists wingers.

A fullback and a centre....playing on the wings

in 1st grade.

I guess he did alright. Although he'll be in the side for a few more weeks I can't see him becoming a regular NRL player with the Broncos. With players like Yow Yeh and Hoffman you always sense they're going to do something awesome. You just don't get that with Copley. All you get is that he's going to fumble the ball or drop the catch.

Griffin and Gagai must have something going on. Didn't something happen last year aswell when Gagai was booted from training for a few weeks. Maybe he needs to get into line before they can rid us of Copley.
