Now this bloke can pull offf some freakish put downs.
Live last night I was convinced that was no try.
So Cudos for that.
He does his part in taking the ball back to give the forwards a break.
So Cudos for that.

However, is it just me that screams at the screen during his kick returns “just run hard you muppet”?

All the Storm returns were done at speed, with Nenes size he should be hitting the line at full tilt and getting the team on the front foot, he doesn’t, it appears he’s not a fan of heavy contact.
A easy observation is, do they hop off one leg just before they reach the defensive line taking away their forward impact. In Nene's case a BIG yes, thats why none of his so called line brakes are from busting through the line, but instead, are from skipping away & going side ways to gain meterage. Lacks heart & only relies on his size to compensate.

Oh I think about this constantly.... I honestly just think he does what he does like no other...he is a finisher and a Ferrari at that! he does the one job and he does it well.....getting over the line, turning most times he gets the ball near the line into 4 points....Id rather we have this kind of winger than just a mungrel grunt, weve had plenty of them int he past and they couldnt do half of what mighty NENE does I LOVE the guy! to me he can plod downfield all he likes, he may not smash into the defence but he rarely gets turned back losing ground....an utterly essential part of our team part of the magic....its a combination that will take us far!
Radradra had grunt......and could get the ball down.
Same as Morris
Same as Ado Carr
And a heap of others

Dream high......

Run hard on kick returns.....Can’t, won’t, never.
He has the natural talent ouryears. Someone just needs to light that fire in his belly and he could be great. He's actually very quick for a bloke his size, but as Benny pointed out he needs a coach who will challenge him.

Cowboys star alleged to have abandoned hire car after holiday crash

Cowboys winger Nene Macdonald is alleged to have abandoned a hire car on Magnetic Island after crashing it into the side of a rockface during a pre-dawn drive on the North Queensland holiday spot.

The Papua New Guinea international is the latest player to be embroiled in an off-field scandal after handing himself into police on Thursday after the accident.

North Queensland confirmed one of their players was involved in an incident just three days out from the second State of Origin clash, in which Macdonald may have been considered if not for a long-term injury.

But the 25-year-old's career now appears at the crossroads after he left the vehicle he was leasing on the roadside. An NRL spokesperson said the NRL integrity unit was aware of the matter.

In a statement, a Queensland Police Service spokesperson said: "Between 4am and 5am on the 20th [of June], a vehicle was travelling along Arcadia Road from Nelly Bay into Arcadia.

"[The] vehicle has veered to the left and hit the rockface of the hill to the left of the road. Driver has then exited the lease vehicle with the keys, leaving the vehicle behind.

"The vehicle was registered to a 25-year-old man who has since attended the Magnetic Island Police Station to confirm he was the driver."

It said investigations are continuing.

The Cowboys issued a brief statement on Thursday night.

"The North Queensland Cowboys are aware of an alleged traffic incident involving a squad member overnight," it said.

"The club has been in contact with the player in question as well as the NRL and will be making no further comment on this matter until internal investigations are completed."

Macdonald, who previously starred for the Dragons before moving to Townsville this season, suffered a horrific broken ankle earlier in the year after falling awkwardly under teammate John Asiata as they tried to make a tackle on Melbourne winger Josh Addo-Carr.

Cowboys coach Paul Green blasted the match officials who took almost a minute to stop the match as Macdonald and Asiata lay on the ground injured. The referees were demoted the following week.

Macdonald has played only five games for the Cowboys and was considered an important signing for the club in the post-Johnathan Thurston era.

He was included in an emerging Maroons camp in January and is signed at the Cowboys until the end of 2021. But the immediate future of one of the game's most destructive wingers is now in serious doubt as the Cowboys grapple with their second serious off-field incident this year.

North Queensland was forced to sack Ben Barba before he had even played a game for the club after an incident in a Townsville casino before the season started.

He was ordered to perform 150 hours of community service after pleading guilty to charges of public nuisance and obstructing police.

Macdonald, a former Australian Schoolboys representative, has played nine Tests for the Kumuls and has had previous NRL stints with the Roosters and Titans before making his mark at St George Illawarra. He has played 96 top grade games to date.

I wonder why the alleged driver left the vehicle at 4am in the morning?
Could there have allegedly been alcohol involved?
I could hazard a guess.....

The Cowboys have released winger Nene Macdonald from the remaining two and a half years of his playing contract.

The PNG international joined the Cowboys from the Dragons on a three-year-deal starting in 2019 but played just five games for the club before having his season ended by a horrific ankle injury.

In a statement, the Cowboys said the release was granted by mutual agreement, "with the club, Nene and his management deciding Nene needs some time away from the game."

The club said it would provide Macdonald with ongoing support.

The announcement comes less than a month after Macdonald was involved in a traffic incident on Magnetic Island.

A hire car leased in Macdonald's name was found abandoned and damaged on June 20. In a statement at the time, the club said it was aware of the incident and would be making no further comment. The matter remains under investigation.
