Would be great if the NRL can commit 2-3 games a season at this new stadium to test the waters for an Adelaide team again

That would be a big step forward to Adelaide's future expansion hopes. NIB's redevelopment has made a big difference to the feasibility of a future NRL club in Perth and this would do the same.

Paranoid thought of the day.. "soccer stadium" is a bit of a worry that they might build it too short to safely fit a rugby league field like Old Trafford.. surely not in Australia where Rugby League is a much bigger sport even if it isn't in Adelaide.

We should definitely be looking to play a few more games there. Hopefully this leads to a bid from an Adelaide team. Exciting times ahead, the fact that we may finally become a national game is pretty awesome and a long time coming.

The difference in Australia and UK is the stadiums are privately owned.
Man united don’t really care if it’s good for league or not.
You would think they would want to make sure league and union could be played in a state asset.

So this has come from the new Adelaide United owners which could mean that it will be built first and foremost for soccer.
That said, if they want government assistance then they need to make it relevant 12 months a year and both rugby codes are their friend there, even if it does only occupy it for 4 weeks in winter. It's better than nothing at all.
Will they be smart enough to realise this though?

Murdoch press wouldn’t call it a rugby league ground, surprised it wasn’t referred to as an AFLX ground

Yes I agree - surely the SA government would be looking to host Kangaroos and Wallabies internationals as well as NRL matches at this venue in addition to soccer games.

Unless these overseas owners are stumping up the majority of the cash to build the stadium, I think we’ll see other codes have no problems with access.

For the sake of 7m at either end ..

I think they would make it 15 m longer ..

The English soccer grounds we're designed 80 years ago
