Gold Coast Titan Greg Bird under investigation after incident at northern NSW pub

THE future of Gold Coast Titans star Greg Bird’s NRL career hangs in the balance after allegations he was involved in an altercation at a pub.

Bird was allegedly involved in a drunken incident at Hotel Brunswick after being a part of a bucks weekend for team mate Anthony Don.

He was refused entry and had an altercation with staff.

The NRL Integrity Unit has been advised of the incident and an NRL spokesman told News Corp this evening that investigations into the incident are being carried out by the club.

The Integrity Unit is aware of accusations against Bird but is not involved yet.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses.

It isn’t the first time Bird has been in trouble, he was fined and sanctioned by the Titans when he he urinated beside an unmarked police car during his wedding celebrations.

Last year he was one of six players caught in a cocaine ring and was charged with supply.

In a statement, Titans chief executive Graham Annersley confirmed the club was aware of the incident.

“The club is aware of an investigation currently underway by the NRL Integrity Unit regarding an alleged incident at a hotel in northern NSW last weekend,” the statement said.

“At this stage those investigations are yet to be completed so the club is not in a position to comment further until the outcome has been determined.”

An NRL spokesman told News this evening that investigations into the incident are being carried out by the club.

The Integrity Unit is aware of accusations against Bird but is not involved yet.

It is understood the Origin star was involved in an altercation at a hotel following the club’s end of season awards.

This would be just another night at the pub for James Roberts, why should Bird have any concerns over this. At least he wasn't snorting cocaine off a toilet seat.

There's no merkin like an old merkin. Too many green lights in the past and this is what happens. Chooks fans moan about pearces punishment but hopefully he has got the message and doesn't end up like this halfwit

Byron Shire doesn't seem his go. Taking a piss on a cop car last year, fighting with bouncers this year...

It's still a surprise that he hasn't been rubbed out permanently from the NRL,

Hayne, Lawton and now this. Normal service has definitely resumed on the GC!
