NRL on track to open Perth stadium as first sporting match

What a great way to start the new season. Should pack them in. The only downside could be the Stadium itself. Being oval shaped it is not Rugby League friendly for fans attending. With the possibility of sitting some distance from the action

It has a quasi rectangular mode with drop in seats. Not perfect but better than a true oval.

Sydney will be 3 hours ahead of Perth in March - is that right? Wonder what time will the games be? 7:30 and 9:30 in Sydney will mean 4:30 and 6:30 kick-offs Perth time. Does this new stadium have a retractable roof that can be closed if it's a steaming hot day in early March in Perth??

Only downside is it could be quite literally 40 degrees when the double header is being played

Sydney merkins will have the shits when Perth averages 20k plus next year. Then again two of the shit Sydney clubs that can't pull a crowd in Sydney will have their averages boosted massively.

Give Souths games that aren't on a Thursday or Friday night regularly and we would see if they can pull a crowd.

My favourite is the Dogs and Souths fans up in arms about the clubs "selling out" and taking games away from them.

Despite the fact both sides have only played 9 ANZ home games for several years now. Dunedin, Perth, Cairns, Belmore anyone?

Souths and Dogs isn't really enticing although they probably will go for the event as mentioned earlier.
Throw them an Origin, why not

This is great news and I can't wait, could still be trumped by an ODI as the first sport to be played at the ground but beating the AFL already has plenty of people over here losing their minds.

It is a narrow ground, not almost round like MCG or SCG. They have a rectangular sports mode. Will be sensational.

Haven't crowd numbers have been down for both teams this year as well? Even if these teams were pulling 25-30k at ANZ this is still a worth while venture. Can't blame either team 'selling out' to gain expose in WA.
