All the talk in this thread about Triple M 'scaling down' their NRL commitments have little basis in reality. As this post sums up and as per what Dan said on the Rush Hour last week (11:40mins onwards):
  • a) The Saturday night AFL game wouldn't interfere with any NRL commitments since the 7:30pm game is one which 2GB has the rights to. Since the requirement seems to be limited to Sydney, it also wouldn't affect Triple M Brisbane if they had to air a Broncos game on a Saturday night.
  • b) Triple M doesn't have to every Sydney Swans and GWS Giants game on FM - they have the flexibility to pick which match they air to minimize the conflicts with their NRL commitments. It won't get rid of all of them but it will reduce how many of them there has been due to being contractually required to air every Swans game

What rot. They should have just flicked their Sydney fumbleball coverage altogether. That's what many were expecting.

Jeffmister is Dan Ginnane.

I don't think it's as bad as everyone is making out. Triple m care about ratings but ultimately they want to make money. I have little doubt the AFL are paying them to broadcast in Sydney as opposed to them buying the rights.
