King George II looked out at the ragged line of Pirates in the courtyard in front of him. He had travelled all the way to the Caribbean to put an end to the raids that had disrupted the fattening of his coffers. He chomped away at another turkey leg.

"Hanging pirates is such hunger inducing work" he muttered to himself.

His grubby little finger pointed at a bedraggled woman.

"You! Wench! Step forward."

The guards wrestled the poor woman forward.

"Tell me what you know of the pirate Jack Sparrow and I'll spare you. Don't and you can join your friends at the end of a rope."

"Well" began the woman in a shrill voice. "I hear this Jack Sparrow is the most handsome pirate on the 7 seas. He can escape any jail, defeat any guard, and his love making prowess is the stuff of legends."

"I don't care about that I just want to know where he is!" Barked the monarch.

"Oh, you should have said. You see he's closer than you'd expect... Much closer in fact." The woman raised her head and pulled off her bonnet revealing the tanned, bearded face of everyones favourite pirate.

"And just for the record chubby. It's 'Captain' Jack Sparrow"

"Guards! Arrest that.." Before the rotund King could finish, a cannon fired and a nearby wall exploded.

Anarchy ensued as the line of pirates wrestled the guards. By the time the dust had settled Sparrow was perched on the top of the city wall. The King looked up in astonishment.

"And Your Majesty, you will always remember this as the day you almost caught Captain Jack..." A gust of wind blew him off the wall into the sea below. The King turned around to see Calypso standing there.

"I'll be overseeing this particular series of events to make sure there be no shenanigans going on". She disappeared as quickly as she had appeared.

The Officers of the Royal Navy looked befuddled.

"Well you morons get after him!"

The game was afoot.

Ok guys, as you can see my role is Calypso. I cannot win the game or be killed.
I'm here to discourage meta-gaming (basing decisions based on previous games/like of a person) and inactivity (not posting).
I will do this by applying 1 negative action a night to those who do these things (selected at random from those who are deemed naughty by me).
E.g. Misanthrope and BunniesMan do not post at all during the current phase. I randomly select one of them, then randomly select a negative action and apply it to them. So Misanthrope's action gets blocked during the night.
In addition to my action I apply my vote to a player who is naughty. This vote is not seen by anyone until someone else votes for them.
E.g. Misanthrope has been punished with the block, so BM now has Hoggmasters vote next turn. At the beginning of the phase both seem to have 0 votes but if Mis votes for BM, then he will see BM has 2 votes. Mis's and mine.

Conversely i will also reward good play in the game. If someone is active and contributes meaningfully to the investigation they will be rewarded with a good action e.g. power boost, free investigation etc.

It may sound complicated but all you guys need to know is, contribute often and thoughtfully, and dont meta game.
