1. Global attention lol

2. Does global attention help swimming become sports broadcasters pour billions into? Or athletics?

3. Watching 7s and believing people that do will automatically become lifelong 15s fans deserves another lol. Most of the people that watch 7s were already fans of 15s.

True...but what it does give you is funding from governments which in turn helps develop and grow the sport.

This is what league needs and union is wary of league about as I believe the IRLF sees nines as our way into the bigger stage hence why union has blocked us in certain countries.

Are you actually thick? Do you have any grassroots involvement with sport or do you just sit up watching soccer streams in Australia? Anyone who can't see the tangible benefits of Olympic money within the sport of swimming are just breathtakingly stupid.

As for point 3, I presume you've done some market research to back up that claim? And even if it was 80% old viewers and 20% new viewers, that's a bad thing because...?

I don't think someone like VictoryFC understands grassroots sport. He looks at shiny soccer stadiums and global tv rights money for that sport & that's pretty much it. Oh and the awesome chants from European soccer fans that the A League fans and himself cringely try and ape.

I see that RU is starting to push 10s now. It's ridiculous that a sport is pushing two reduced numbers of its main participation version. Just shows that sum people in charge of RU thinks 7s is Mickey Mouse. My RU & cricket watching father, he played RU too, says 7s is stupid.

The Tens tournament is being pushed by the same promoters who produced the RL Nines tournament.

RU Tens has been around for a while. There is a yearly International Clubs tournament played in Singapore.

I doubt that either Tens venture is being "pushed" by the governing body, rather they are isolated initiatives.

Is RU Sevens "mickey mouse"? Is 20/20 Cricket "mickey mouse"? Maybe. But people seem to enjoy watching it and playing it.

Who enjoys the 7's in massive numbers?

I have yet to see a 7's comp with massive crowds, sponsors and tv ratings selling merch left right and centre, please stop the shit, you unionites are delusional if you think 7's is anything, it's a joke just as the 9's in rl are.

A weekend with 50,000 people watching or getting drunk does not make a competition, it's a pissup for 2 days, since when do football codes or other major sports have a full season of 2 days?

Wake the f**k up and start using your brain.

Oh and knownothing, 9's rl has been played for 20 years now.

Rugby definitely got some good exposure at the Olympics through the 7s tournament. But it's been quickly forgetten in all the hysteria of the Olympic hype machine, overshadowed by phelps, bolt, the dream team etc.
You'd think it'd be treated like Handball, beach volleyball, hockey etc. Have people interested, googling it, talking about it for a short time b4 largely forgetting about it for another 4 years

But but but but but, they play a 7's circuit, LOL and yet all those poor saps get dropped for mercenaries like $BW and co who never play the game because they are too busy actually playing the REAL version of the sport elsewhere in front of bigger crowds bigger tv ratings bigger money more exposure blah blah blah. We all said these 7's players would get dropped for all the pro unionites and we were right, you dhs said no no no no no they are the best $BW and co have no hope of making it blah blah blah, well guess what, you lied and we didn't or we know your sport better than you do.

Dickhead.

Anyone who seriously believes that RL isn't miles behind RU has probably never left Fairfield....the ARU is an aberration because it's run by self interested muppets, but worldwide RU blows RL away and it's now an Olympic sport. Simple as that really.

But RL worldwide suffers from the same problem the ARU does; it's run by self interested muppets who can't see past their own country. ESPECIALLY in Australia....the fact that a two state competition is viewed as the pinnacle of the game speaks volumes for the issues in Rugby League. We should be jealous of RU, but Australian RL fans and administrators in general simply couldn't give a f**k about anything outside their own club or state...the fact that we have the better game is completely irrelevant, because no one wants to do anything about it.

SBW is the exception that proves the rule. He is the only player anywhere who was parachuted in. By the way, he had to drop 7 kgs to get into the NZ Sevens squad, and he had to miss the Super RU season, which cost him big bucks.

Any other examples you can name? There are none, as far as I know.

lol ok mate. No one's talking up Union due to being in the Olympics and no one cares and it isn't getting exposure and boosted popularity into new markets. Got it. The Olympics is dumb and so is Union.

We have to attract more middle-class people, and more people with serious money. That means making the sport safer and taking concussion seriously. So no shoulder charges/barges, no punching allowed, no high tackles (which there are far too many of). This is the way the world is going, and we have to go with it. Unless we go after people with money we are doomed, and then we should say to ourselves, if we can't beat them then we'll have to join them, I obviously mean here we'll have to join RU.

As Antwaan Randle El said, he wishes he had gone to play Baseball instead, and reckons A Football won't be in existence within 25 years, he maybe right, it's just too dangerous. Look at the growth of soccer in the last few years in the US.

The amount of leisure time that working class people are gonna have in future is going to be less, in fact it's happening right now, people working longer hours in Britain, the French government changing laws regarding maximum hours of work, and they have a "Socialist" as their President at the moment.

6 down rugby, that sounds childish, it'll obv. be abbreviated to just 6 down, come on, be serious. We need a separate name completely, we have to drop the word rugby, as I've said before I don't want the sport I watch named after a fee-paying school in frikin southern Ing-lund.

Aberdare? Georgeball? Messengerball?

And bring back continuous live rucks, and i'd bring back line-outs too, and with the line-outs you can throw in anywhere between the inside shoulders of the two teams, as long as the ball goes between the two teams' first person at the line-out. And if the ball doesn't come out of a ruck or maul then it's a tip-off.

And can't go for goal for any penalty, the ball is advanced 10 metres and a tap is taken from there, and can't take a quick tap when in the oppositions 20 metre area. The goal posts are there for conversions and drop-goals.

And start the match with a play-the-ball on the halfway line, all restarts begin like this too. The opposition start 10m away on the 40m line obviously.

The 10s in Singapore has only happened once, in 2014, didn't have it last yr, and the 10s has bn moved to Mauritius now. The IRB aren't against it, and i'm sure they've given the tournie a few quid to help with traveling costs. Granted it's not being pushed in the same was a 7s is, but that's cos 7s has HSBC backing it.

But anyway we should stop playing inter"national" RL. I just don't like international competitions. End the Olympics too, what a waste of money that it.

Only Italy have their own word for football. The rest of the world use their own version of foot and ball or use the word soccer which comes from association football.

Ok, and how many everday people know soccer is a namer derived from association? The point is association football has multiple names, and it doesnt matter, because people arent attracted to a sport based off of its universal name. So call rugby league what you like, just get people interested in it.
