I liken the Tamou effect to product placement marketing. Very hard to quantify in real terms, but everyone does it so you can't afford not to, just in case. Look at Luke Brooks benefitting from Benji Marshall this year. Looks a completely different player. The only reliable measure we have is the words of some of our young props, all crediting Tamou for assisting their development. Sure Merrin and the forwards coach could have also contributed (and most likely have), but the question that needs to be asked is why they have not been name dropped and Tamou has? We can't assume that Merrin or someone else would fill this void if we axed Tamou unless they're already exhibiting that behaviour. LetsL trust that Gus and Hook understand the dynamics in play and make the right choice.
