The hit rate now with the young ones coming through is ridiculous. Massive turnaround from the dark years. The jury is still out on Soni, but I can't think of a fail since Ivan came back. Hook was pretty good on that front too.

In saying that Ivan is still pretty conservative. A bit of a risk here and there would be interesting.

That is and the strange use of his bench are 2 of Ivan's weaknesses

We are blessed with juniors.. is great to see the club getting it right...

I think probably the biggest thing for me has been the identification and development of the journeymen types of players over the last 4 or so years...

Typically its not something the club has been great at...

Theres too many to list... everyone knows who... burns, walsh, woolnough, purtell, newton, i could go on forever...

But the club was not good at identifying blokes that actually had a bit of potential or werent good at developing them...

Now look at us...

Sorensen, eiso, hosking, sos, cogger....

Theyve had some really good wins with blokes like this over the last few years...

It helps they are coming into a winning system but they have all improved a shitload whilst here or aince being here.

I mean soro is deadset one of the better 2md rowers in the game imo and uo there with martin... very underated..

Eiso has improved his ball playing immensely and is hugely reliable.

Hosking has become a regualr fg player...

Cogger and sos rejuvenated there careers here..

The club has nailed this

Ivan’s greatest strength is his ability to admit (at least to himself) when he was wrong and improve. 2020 was a great year, but he got his bench wrong in the finals. Since then it has been flawless and there are plenty of big games where the impact delivered off the bench has handed us the ascendancy and the game. It’s not just the cattle also; moving Moses back to the bench recently shows it is a plan (and also talks to a coach that isn’t conservative). Now the management of his bench is one of Penrith’s greatest strengths.

His big errors in 2021 were his management during SOO period and managing loads through the back end of the year; again, his performance on both those fronts in 2022 were both different and effective.

We seem to lose our way when Luke, Kenny and Salmon are on today.

For me though

Not sure we can win the comp with

Kenny
Martin
Sorro
Yeo all playing 80.

So for me how he finds 20-30 mins for Hosking come finals time is key. How to juggle the changes is the hardest part of coaching imo

Yeah I agree. Milky on Tito’s wing.

Tito is dangerous at fullback.

Sadly I think we’d see Critter at FB and Hosking or Garner in Centres.
We can’t go down that path against Broncos. They are serious contenders and Staggs/Farnworth are very, very dangerous players.
