Sadly we dont have an alternative.Fixed that for you.
If only Sam were fit we could drop him. Not that we would. He's our highest paid forward. He's never getting dropped

In fairness, Maloney threw him a couple of dodgy passes. One around his ankles, the second out in front of him that he really should have caught. The Sharks were in his face all day.
They didn't play like nuffies. They played like a side who didn't want to go 2 from 7. The had it all over us in the outside backs and played to their strengths. I saw enough to think they'll make the finals.

If its the same one I'm thinking of it was about a foot too far in front of him. Not uncatchable but it would have been a good effort with defence boring down on him. The Sharks saw that we were targeting them down that side and plugged the hole extremely well. This is why Whare turned back inside so often, DWZ was covered. We should have tried the other side. This is where having Cleary will make a huge difference. No Whare is doing it every week, he should’ve caught all those passes one of them was perfect out in front he just has butterfingers,
He was well down on last week, but reaching for the panic button seems like a bad idea, seeing we face a tough forward pack next game.

The thing is last week was the only game where he had ever earned is money. He's a straight up plodder on rep dollarsHe was well down on last week, but reaching for the panic button seems like a bad idea, seeing we face a tough forward pack next game.
man I am so sick of the media saying how badly injury prone the peptide sharks are. Like we were playing at full strength. We are the probably the worst injury hit team in the comp!!!!
Tamou 3
Hetherington 4
Peach 4
Whare 2
Wallace 3
and thats being generous...
Had a bad feeling about this one. We aren't too good with the favourites tag.
Peachy at 6 is a significant problem. Sharks gameplan was way too simple. They gave Maloney no space and we had no one to lend him a hand. Edwards isn't much of a ball player either. Plus Wallace not using his kicking game out of dummy half. Its honestly a 1 man show out there.
A lot of poor options from Wallace close to the line as well. When he was hooked we looked a better team.
Whare and Crichton had shockers. But with our injuries I don't think Hook will make any changes to the backline.
Griffin has put himself in a bad position with a lack of forward planning.A big part of our successful run last year occured when Wallace was injured and we rotated between Mitch Rein and Katoa. Katoa's service from dummy half is sublime and he seems to really get our forwards going forward. We saw some of that again yesterday when Katoa came on. He also seems to have added a short kicking game to his bag of tricks.
Wallace looked good in the first few games of the year, but I suspect he is already starting to carry injuries - it is defending in the middle (and his age) that is wearing him down. His face after every game in the press conference is always bruised and battered.
I think the difficultly Hook faces is that Wallace is the captain of the side, and one of our most experienced players. He is also clearly respected by the rest of the team. We take him out of the side and we have even less experience and no clear senior leader on the field other than Maloney.
Also these players who we have brought up from reserve grade are punching above their weight. With the loss of Sauce,it seems that it is too much for the side to cope with. I also think the coaching went away from a conventional game plan. I had no idea what the hell was going on positional wise after those first two tries. For a team that's shit, we managed to score the same number of tries. The forwards tried hard, but our backline really looked clunky today. With CHN and Whare we must have the two slowest centres in the competition. Whare has lost a few metres of pace and really does look pedestrian. Somebody said CHN isn't agile enough, he is plenty agile enough, but you still need the raw speed to chase somebody and he was burnt for pace.
I thought Peachey was ok at 6 but the question is whether we would be better with him at centre and Luai at six? It gives us a bit more pace and then we have another gun backrower on the bench.
To lose by a penalty kick at Shark Park, with as many players out as we had was a good outcome. We have lost two games and both of them by a small margin.
He also is a demon tackler. He really clogs up the middle and is one of our best defenders. His problem is in attack, he rarely runs and it means the markers can shoot out after our receiving player. Katoa makes the markers stay tight and gives runners just a bit more space.A big part of our successful run last year occured when Wallace was injured and we rotated between Mitch Rein and Katoa. You can see though, the same with most players in their mid 30's, first grade starts to take a toll on the body. He will be busted by the end of the season and is already showing signs of wear and tear.
The injured Sharks headline also gave me the sh*ts. Mansour, Blake, Cleary, May that's half a backline and DWZ was playing his first game back after a lengthy lay off as well (thought he went OK until he run out of gas). Wallace couldn't finish the game, same as Lewis. The only difference was we had multiple youngsters throughout the team and didn't go on about how brave we are and how tough we are to cope with the injuries. They had Dugan, Brailey, Moylan and Townsend as their spine. Plenty of experience in the key positions, their "injured brave Sharks" headline is just crap.

We could have just hit it up the middle and took the two when on offer, which was pretty frequently. What messed that up was that the Sharks were able to score soft tries.Merrin would of got the same. The senior guys were shocking. I wouldn't of given anyone over a 6. The Brightside is it was 4 tries all after we dished up that.
Maloney should of known you can't try to score around them. Why spread it just go up the middle
