What, the f**k. That is seriously an indictment, especially for the Warriors, being a one *ahem* countryclub. The article does state that those are Aussie based numbers, however.

Roy morgan arent a great pollster for a few reasons but i believe this poll in particular is faulty

I believe that they are essentially pushing a result when polling which leads to large cities with 1 or 2 teams dominating despite soft support

Here is their afl one. Apparently the most popular afl team is Sydney with 1.2 million fans. Yet this translates to 50k in members and mediocre tv numbers within the Sydney market.

In fact roy morgan are claiming that in nsw there are 1.7 million afl fans and in queensland there are 901k but only under 5 percent membership conversion. In Victoria its 20 percent suggesting that the fans are much more engaged and can be said to be active fans

Basically i wouldnt read too much into this survey.

As has been said being on free to air every week and having the owner of the club running the the only daily newspaper in a town of over a million helps

Plus every game your team plays we have to listen to an ex captain of yours crap on about how special they are eg Lockyer, Walters, Parker, Tallis or Lewis. It's nauseating and I'd hate to be cleaning Walters chair after the game. Dude blows a serious eight roper into his dacks anytime jimmy the f**king jet or Darius touch the ball
