Regarding the Fa'aoso issue.

First of all its his health and I wouldn't want him risking that to play.

But I believe the club had clearances from specialized doctors prior to signing him, and I can't help but feel once again it's double standards from the NRL.
They were ok to let Tate and wolfman keep playing.....

since tate and wolfman and ross the landscape has changed. if the alex mckinnon thing hadn't turned out as bad for him as it did then i have no doubt richie would've been allowed to play.

can't blame the nrl for protecting not just the brand but also the player and themselves from being liable.

i can't help but think your post has a bit of a double standard to it (i wouldn't want him risking his health but....)

You also wonder why a player can't agree to "opt out" when it comes to getting insurance (or at least the $1m insurance being bandied around). If a doc has cleared him, and Richie is willing to put his body on the line with little/minimal insurance, then surely that's his choice.

you'd think but if i were at nrl hq i'd always be worried about accountability.

similar to the green/briggs boxing fiasco. just because one party clears him doesn't mean he is right to go. in that instance, even after danny green carried on like a dick about it, turns out the nsw people were right not to clear briggs and the wa people were clowns for clearing him. too many egg shells around.

Double standard?

I'm stating that yes if its affecting it is a risk yes.

But they have Wolfman currently contracted as an NRL player, and have had Tate last year. Yes I agree McKinnon situation has definitely impacted this decision. But Fa,aoso has had clearance from specialists and he has said he wants to play. I would like to know the difference between him and Wolfman....

Tate's neck injury was about 10 years ago. How about the idea that Wolfman was able to get the necessary insurance coverage (after having played for 3 years post-injury), and Richie wasn't?

They've said quite plainly that it is an issue of insurance cover.

Gibbsy on 2UE has said that DCE might go to sharks offering big money. Wonder if Foran would still leave if DCE did?

Sharkies was today.

His manager was just interviewed, and said a decision would be made by the end of the week between Manly, Titans, Sharks and the club he visits tomorrow that Orr wouldn't name.
