With Norman we don't need to be paying big bucks for anyone. We need another hooker, another half (neither on big bucks) and possibly another prop and a better winger than Bevan French.

We only have about 17 players contracted for next year, so that alleged million dollars doesn't need to all go to one player.

And that's my point, how is evenly spreading that mill over 8 players any better for squad/cap balance. Particularly for a club like ours, and Cowboys & Sharks are proof of this, every dollar you spend outside of your top 17 is fairly wasted. Why pay some more than you have to if they are only going to train and give you a handful of injury replacement games? You are usually better off getting best players available and then fill the ranks with cheap juniors who can improve

still comes in under what Foran was due to get paid next year. If we're interested in Hastinsg we should try and get him quick before the Dragons start offering him 800K because they've missed out on everyone else and he's the only half left!

Yeah I thought earlier in season it was good idea but another hooker would be superfluous assuming both IDG & Kaysa are on more than minimum. Noone is ever going to carry more than 2 hookers into a game.
Another half is a must, big bucks, small bucks who cares as long as they're good?
Prop maybe but only if they are genuinely better than Penishands, because a current rotation of Mannah (relatively cheap), Wicks (to be re-signed hopefully cheap) & Alvaro (cheap) I think puts us in pretty good stead.
And then.... a winger better than French.... yes he's small but other than that why waste money given he's genuine top 17 ATM & probably being paid jack all?

Morgan the beacon of shit cap management. Even before French's debut he was always a backup, and yet he is reportedly being paid more than minimum wage, is now being paid to play for another club, is playing regular 1st grade (because otherwise why would they want him?) so will want more than minimum wage again when he comes off contract & was a f**king junior, you only have to turn around and see Folau and go "oh you want more than $80k Ryan, well bye we'll just replace you with Izzy's brother."
One hooker is a concern, but hey we made it to a grand final with Matt Keating

If backups are in demand elsewhere there's no guarantee you will get them for minimum salary.
