As for 'how to avoid' this incident, it's seems pretty obvious to me:
Adelaide Bulldogs.
Stuff all. Name calling is just name calling to me. Nobody was deprived of employment, healthcare, education etc. Ive never seen a bottle thrown though.

That sums it up. We have a societal issue of people thinking that sort of behaviour is acceptable. It's not.
We came so close to seeing Souths and Canterbury fans go to war and wipe each other out. A missed opportunity if ever I saw one.
The amount of Dogs fans on Twitter saying they're switching to AFL makes me question how big a fan they really were?
They have that element of young/youngish fans who go to rather act intimidating than to watch a game of football.
