Titans' Amos pleads guilty to NRL charge

Gold Coast hooker Clint Amos has been suspended for two NRL games after pleading guilty to a dangerous throw on St George Illawarra winger Jason Nightingale.

Amos was the only player cited by the NRL match review committee from the weekend round, with Brisbane back-rower Brad Thorn escaping a charge after being placed on report in Monday night's loss to Manly.

Referee Jared Maxwell placed Thorn on report for a lifting tackle on Jason King in the 48th minute of Manly's 18-6 win at Brookvale Oval.

Interchange forward David Taylor was also expected to come under scrutiny for his part in the tackle, but the match review committee deemed neither player had a charge to answer.

"Lifting tackle on King by Taylor. King doesn't reach a dangerous position. Minor contribution from Thorn. Penalty sufficient," the match review summary read.

Amos was charged with a grade-one dangerous throw for his tackle on Nightingale in the 37th minute.

Carry-over points from a similar offence last year means Amos will have to serve a two-game ban, instead of one.

He will miss the Titans' home games against South Sydney on Saturday, and Canberra the following week.

Unfortunate news for Clint though every cloud has a silver lining.

Our team vs Souths:

Titans
1. Richie Mathers
2. Matt Petersen
3. Mat Rogers
4. Brett Delaney
5. Smith Samau
6. Matthew Hilder
7. Scott Prince (c)
8. Luke Bailey (c)
9. Nathan Friend
10 James Stosic
11. Anthony Laffranchi
12. Mark Minichiello
13. Luke Swain

Interchange
14. Kris Kahler
15. Michael Hodgson
16. Gavin Cooper
17. Josh Lewis

I am hopeful Lewis and Hilder switch prior to kick-off. Hilder subbing for Friend will serve us well rest assured. Hilder from dummy half is much better than Hilder from five-eight.

The debut of Josh Lewis is exciting. Good judges at the Roosters had a high opinion on this kid, including Fittler, so I will be watching with great interest to see how we line up come 7.30pm.
