What would get you sent off?

They keep falling back on the old "Penalty try can only be given if the ref is sure the player was going to score"!

Often it is clear the player would get there and score, if not fouled.

Plenty of rules are dead in RL these days. Offside being one on it's last legs, except when the ref needs to even up the count.

They should change that rule - if you deny a player a scoring opportunity with a foul, it should be a penalty try.

People would stop fouling in about five minutes.

Gus Gould was asked this week about the Sia Soliola's high shot on Billy Slater and why players don't get sent off anymore. He stated 20 years ago when a player was sent off the team would make do with what they had and could still be in the contest. But in the modern game now if a player gets sent off you can virtually write off the game for the team who is a man down.

So there you have it.

Again, then simply don't commit a send offable offence!

It is such a ridiculous argument that players have gotten too good to allow send offs. It's not the fault of the ref or the rules of the game, it's the fault of the dickhead who hangs his arm out and coat hangers someone.

I am just constantly blown away by the media being enablers of poor reffing and bizarre 'interpretations' of rules in the name of making the game more even.

If you have a player who keeps playing dirty, we shouldn't be changing the rules or looking the other way because they're a good footballer. They should have to stop being a thug!

Tough luck. Do the crime, do the time and suffer the consequences.

How would we really know, it's that infrequent that you couldn't categorically say it's any different.

At the present time, you could run out with an automatic weapon, kill half the opposition and a chunk of the crowd and you'd stay on.

Its f**king stupid.

Gus Gould is right it should be refs call whether to send a player off or not. Matt Cechin was going to send Sia Soliola off then was advised by the Bunker to put him on report. If the Bunker goes with refs call on try's when there is doubt, then they should go with refs call on whether a player stays on the field or not. The Bunker should have no interference with this part of the game.

Less is more.
