Yeah, I saw the V5s on the brown one. They are my favorite wheel ever. I had to run OM's on the Mustang as the biggest V5's are 16" & they wouldn't clear the rotors. Has the LS got a vinyl roof or is it just the angle of the photo?

Vinyl roof. Really looks good when cleaned.

FJ's are cool, I quite like all the early stuff up to EH. HD's & R's dont really do it for me. The old man had a HD Prem X2 back when I was a kid. I wouldnt mind that one back in the family though.

The early stuff dont have a chassis as such, we used to use HR crossmembers & a Torana steering rack when putting V8's in old Holdens. The Subframe (chassis sort of) remains from the original car.

My brother sold a HD premier a couple years ago. Was immaculate.

Same, same.

Although, my wedding car was this

p9081638_241109_174921.jpg

Or one that looked just like it

FJ Holden 1956 with a V8 Chevrolet engine
The V8 engine was too heavy for the FJ frame so the FJ body was mounted on a Torana chassis

The V8 was a cracker - it was so loud we set off car alarms driving down Castlereagh Street lol

Just checked the car more closely - that is the exact one. I want it now.

Small world, That is a short walk from my place I know the owner fairly well. Car sat on his front lawn for sale for a long time.

OK. The sub frame was frm a Torana on that one I showed you

That would be an amazing car to have as your daily driver
Can't believe it sold for $22k and was up for sale for ages

Why wasn't I there. Bugger

That would have taken some serious modification then.

I am often surprised at the ceiling on some cars price. An iconic car like the FJ struggles to break out of the 20's no matter how much was spent on it. Yet anything with even the most dubious race pedigree pulls crazy money. I love XYs but the prices of them are insane in a lot of cases. The phase 3 obviously has the pedigree but the closest a GS got to Bathurst was the car park.

I guess the age of the car has alot to do with it

FJ's are from the 1950's. An era that just doesn't attract the right nostalgia for people of an age where they want to spend their money on the things of their dreams.

Buying a classic car for most happens when the kids first leave home and you can have that second car you always wanted. For many, it's the car of their childhood dreams.

It's the cars of the late 60's and early 70's that are these cars for the people of the right age. People in their late 40's, early 50's. They would spend the big money.

In England the hot Ford's of the late 70's and early 80's are now becoming highly collectable. Capris, Escorts, Cortinas and even Sierra's are being snapped up. Anything with Mexico, Lotus, Cosworth or XR badges on them are starting to be sought out and restored again.

Today's fortysomethings just don't remember FJ's as being something they ever wanted. They were the gutless, old fashioned crap cars their grandparents drove.

I just happen to really dig the design shape. But I wouldn't want one unless it had a V8 under the bonnet to really make it something unique.
