Knocking on the door; Jamie Simpson, Eddie Paea, Ben Lowe, Luke Capewell, Jamain Lowe, Beau Falloon.

Bring on 2008, i think with the exception of Asotasi, Wing, Kidwell and Luke, all other positions are wide open.

With JT a year older in the coaching ranks i look forward to a season even more successful than last year.

Sorry Forgot Ben Rogers, he will also be well in the mix.

Sheesh!

I loved all of the teams above and this effort has taken me ages.

1. Fetuli Talanoa
2. Nathan Merritt
3. John Sutton
4. Yileen Gorden
5. Shannon Hegarty

6. Nigel Vagana
7. Craig Wing

8. Jaiman Lowe
9. Issac Luke
10. Roy Asotasi
11. Michael Greenfield
12. David Kidwell

* Frog not included due to suspension.

Vags and Wing wil mesmorise the opposition!

My giant and speedy backs will either crush or out-run their opposition!

My forwards are either in form, huge or talented!

I hope I have put together the 'thinking mans' bench.

Oh by the way Dave, Vagana has no place in the 6 jersey. He's shown in the past he can't handle the pivot duties.

I don't want to be rude, but to those of you that have put Tyrell, Tamanika, Barnes, in your preferred sides, have you even seen these bloke play?

Tyrell has zero chance of playing first grade next year. None. Barnes has, similarly, no chance under any normal circumstances. Tamanika is an outside chance, but he is at least a chance.

The team, in my opinion, almost picks itself.

1. Merritt
2. Talanoa
3. Vagana
4. Gordon
5. Hegarty (though Huihahau may get this spot, if not he'll be in the team regularly by mid year)
6. Wing
7. Paea
(The halves are the most debatable for mine)
8. Geddes (we know what he can do, I'm prepared to write off his 2007 at this stage)
9. Luke
10. Asotasi
11. Kidwell
12. Sutton
13. Widders
14. Stuart
15. Manuokafoa
16. Rogers
17. Greenfield

I spent a lot of time in QLD and seen both Barnes and Tamanika score a host of tries between them. I am the first to admit this is a different level all together but hey we need to score tries and both these guys know their way to the line.

Please remember opinions are like you know what, everyone has one. JT will pick the side he thinks will win Souths games but it is good to have competition for all positions.

Vag was playing alongside Stacey Jones, a much better half than Wingy.

The defence rests? Surely you can't Dave.

Yes, I do Ziggy.

Suffice to say that we appear to disagree on this matter.

* Against the Rorters our little speed men like Wing, Luke and Paea could embarass Mason/O'Meley/Nutley and co as they are pedestrian in defense after 15 minutes.

This is a super thread.

Ive been eyeing off the fullback fight especially

Nathan seems to be well ahead. I cant speak for NGR, but in my view, Fetuli has been awesome in the role.

And I am also reluctant to move Nathan from where I know he can utilise his brilliant talents.

Its nice to see Buddy get some support too.

1. Nathan Merritt (was outstanding when moved to the back and only injury stopped him)
2. Fetuli talanoa ( monster of a man with speed and strength on his side)
3. Yileen Gordon ( started playing well at the back end and defence is good)
4. Nigel Vagana (experience experience experince)
5. Sam Huihahau ( Give the boy a chance.. The Israel Folau of 2008)

6. Ben Rogers (Since most 5/8s are locks he fits in and has a good kicking game)
7. Craig Wing. (the prodigal son returns and plays in a postion that makes him happy)

8. Michael Greenfield. (was devestating in the back half and deserves to start)
9. Issac Luke ( nothing needs to be said )
10. Roy Asotasi ( refer Issac Luke )
11. David Kidwell ( should be ready to go and pumped for 2008 )
12. Luke Stuart ( need some white boys and does the little things all the time)
13. John Sutton (although id love him in the centres playing well and is strong as an ox)

14. Dean Widders ( super sub... i know he wants to start but he is better off the bench )
15. Manase Manuokafoa (injury held him back but Nelson will be pumped )
16. Scott Geddes ( loyal souths man and his run in norths will make him hungry)
17. Jeremy Smith ( tough choice but can swap 6 7 9 and 17 at diffrent times )

Just my opinion

But i sure JT will pick the right squad for round one.

With fa'alogo to come back 2008 is looking nice

I also like Sutton playing in the backs but JT seems to have him pegged for backrow.

I don't know why we ever moved him from the 6 jersey.

Talanoa played better at fullback but with his size and line breaking ability he should end up in the Centres.
