Showed no mercy on the snake oil charmer though and fair enough.
Banaghan *really* doesn't like Scurrah. Before Scurrah came on board Banaghan represented a big chunk of the FG squad. Within a few years he had only Luck left, i think, and that was basically down to Scurrah forcing him and his players out.

Though, that being said, Banaghan did want a mid-six-figure-per-year sum for Fien, if memory serves.

ETA: oh, and Banaghan was also fairly involved in our salary cap issues.

Banaghan is a snake...dont believe a word he says imo.
The bloke went bankrupt and nearly quit being a player manager.

Him and Daniel Anderson were friends and had dodgy dealings...with Anderson taking his players to the point he had 60% of warriors players.

What about Hart as CEO and graham lowe as director of football? Hart has a background in business and knows the warriors as a club... lowe knows the game (but wouldn't be up to head coach with his health) and seems to be pretty passionate about league in nz... only problem would be whether watson/glen would want to work with someone with connections to previous ownership.

and is it just me, but is the club going backwards with owen glen as co-owner? (we've definitely had a lot of coaches, and the associated lack of stability, since he became involved!)

has Tony Veitch heard something,, I hope so..

Veitch said that...

-Matulino asked for a release
-Mateo was a whopping 14kgs overweight
-The club had already spoken to Kidwell (and probably have been in talks with him for a while)

Can't find the link. A mate sent me a screenshot.

The club is like a spreading pandemic or cancer.

Listened to Jim Banaghan the player agent today

* Elliott was NEVER on the short list in the first place
* He presented a philosophical presentation to Glenn and Scurrah who fell hook line and sinker
* The players however could not understand any of it
* Petero Civonoceva couldn't either and grew intensely frustrated by him
* Banaghan said after last weekends game some players didn't know if he was praising or bagging them
* He said the Warriors have a reputation that no coach wants to go near because they can't trust the joint. Anywhere but Auckland now
* they're bud getting to lose $200k this weekend at Eden Park.

Scurrah has destroyed the joint. Wow, what a snake charmer oil peddler.

Jim Banaghan is like Tony Kemp...he has extreme bias.
Missed the bit about Petro playing for the Warriors lol.

There is no way they will lose $200k at Eden Park - maybe not get 200K extra profit they wanted if they budgeted to sell out it etc.

What has got me angry? Is all the experts to come out in the media.
Radiosport people who now nothing.

For mine.

Elliot was hired to change the place - a la Brian Smith at a few clubs.
He has done good things in terms of the setup etc. getting all the facilities etc.

The player development is way better - I have faith that the young players like Lisone, Lolohea etc are being groomed to be good FG'ers with out egos.

No way could of Tony Iro or John Ackland have done that imo.

Why did he get fired now? Obviously speaks in riddels too much.
He would of been gone anyway- he created the change.
Once the person to deal with current crop of players.

At least they give Mcfadden a fair crack - he has a good resume and is a good candidate.

As for people screaming for consequences for the players
That will come IMO - they already pushed out Packer, Mara and likely Locke.
They will do the same with a few more.

Claiming players are big headed etc etc... cant get a more relaxed down to earth leadership group as Leuluai, Rapira, Mannering, Friend etc

He has setup something

They are both Dinosaurs.
Anybody who quotes them

Lowe was a good coach decades ago - he is a dinosaur.

Hart was a mentor/director no more.
He gets credited for 2011's fluke run to the finals.

Club is in a good position - squad is strong.
With top juniors coming through.

I follow the juniors very closely - they are picking the right kids...putting time into them
Players like Lisone, Lolohea, Kata are all impresssing big time.

The NYC are winning everygames but are blooding heaps of Under 18 players who will be ready for NRL to a higher standard imo.

Get rid of the coach - get somebody who can communicate in plain human language.

My personal opinion of Glenn is that he's a weirdo and a creep, but that's mainly a view I've formed after seeing him in the flesh. Weird Muldoon-looking little creature. Shouldn't own the Warriors.

that's why i suggested lowe as director of football not coach... he has experience both as coach and in running a club... gus gould hasn't coached a club in 10 plus years but is still able to run the panthers pretty well (plus i think lowe has a similar role with salford... or atleast did last year)

and why get rid of the coach when it's the players who aren't performing? the juniors aren't going to develop that well when their role models (ie; the nrl squad) are a bunch of prima donnas with no obvious desire to win (not all the players just johnson, mateo etc)

Mate also said something about McFadden wanting to sign Reece Robinson for next year.
I'd be happy with that.

Not sure Lowe was ever a good coach tbh

I understand why he's not popular, but the joint needs Brian Smith... not someone like Brian Smith, but Brian Smith!

The Wigan chap could be interesting...

Matt Elliot is a brian smith protege'.
He has already done a brian smith - know they need a trent ronbinson to come and win a championship.

Lets hope that is McFadden.

Who knows they are prima donnas?

Never heard Sam Rapira, Nathan Friend, TL and Simon Mannering being prima donnas.

Maybe a few other players

The core problem and as simple as it may sound is the team is not winning enough games. History is littered with teams that have been poorly coached and this team was one of them.
IMO Elliot failed in the 2 approaches professional coaches take. 1. You define a game plan and then select the players you believe can implement that plan. 2. You select the best players then define a game plan that best suits those players’ abilities.
Last year Elliot tried the first and confused the F**k out of the players with the game plan. After a talking too by senior players he went the other way with some success but still failed to really identify the current playing squad’s strengths and weaknesses and make adjustments accordingly.
I do not believe any player at the warriors deliberately goes on the field and not try their best. The instances of players turning over the ball on Saturday underlined what mind-set they carried into the game. For the player’s sake, I am glad all the confusion surrounding them on how to play has been taken from them. I liked Andrew Mcfadden ever since I first saw him stand Kevin Iro up and run around him to score. That day he re-mined me of Ricky Stuart and I think injury may have hampered him showing his true ability.

Monday night with Matt Johns spent a few sec on the topic.
They can see thru the bullshit of resigning vs being pushed.
Warriors will struggle to attract a coach.
Only coach not to be sacked is Clearly.
Gordan confuse about player revolution as all so young?

Bloody Smelliott has fallen on his sword. He would fit right in on NRL 360, get rid of Ikin. Scurrah is hopefully packing his bags and Pricey is picking out office furniture.

Just read an article which said Sheens manager was going to enquire about the vacant warriors coaching job for his client. Surely not lol.

lol, Elliot was a last resort, he was the 'plan G' when they couldn't get Bellamy.

Elliots history screamed at us that yesterday was inevitable,,, and it was.
