We havent won the game at the play the ball for more than a decade... I actually did not see anything tonight that is ever going to change that.

How we ever won this game was remarkable in some ways

Yep - They made nearly 300 more metres then us and 2 more line breaks . It was very good defensively effort by the eels

I know we made the GF in 09 but this looks like a team who is finally being coached if ya know what I mean.

Hayne was named Man of the watch

So he should. He has been so understated this year, yet so brilliant. It's handy having other players in a team do their job where he doesnt have to do it for them

I watched him take 2 decoy runs tonight, probably two of his most pleasing efforts in the game really outside of the tackles on SBW

We're certainly a lot smaller than the Chooks. But are we too small or are they too big? :?

I think what's more surprising is how fit those big blokes are, the way they swarm with 3 in each tackle and then have to get back to the line......impressive!

I am sure not many will notice but I reckon Arthur made an amazing tactical decision today by not bringing gower on until the last 20 or so. ( correct me if I am wrong ). While gower aren't the greatest player it gave us a very fresh player in a slug fest for the last 20 minutes when there were some really tiring players.

Gower made 1-2 runs which gave us some good go forward when were struggling and got the set back on track. And he made 3 try saving/important tackles which I don't think a "unfresh" player would make

He's a lot quicker and more agile than I thought too. Sure he was against very tired Roosters slugs, but he was getting between players pretty easily.

It's the first time since about '05-'07 where it looks like every merkin is playing his best.

Edit: forgot about half of 2009

I don't think we are significantly smaller than them. Consider the starting packs (ex hooker).

Moa = 105kg
Guerra = 103kgs
Cordner = 102 kgs
JWH = 108 (according roosters website but probably bigger)
SBW = 108kgs

Kenny Edwards = 101kgs
Peni = 103
Mannah = 109 kgs
Joseph Paulo = 103
Manu Mau = 103kg

There's no big difference in bench size either. Its the old adage....it's what you do with it.
