How long did Manu have to wait to before he returned??? This bloke will be getting out of jail and straight into over 100k a year paid job. Wicks had to serve his time as well. I think Packer should definitely miss at least next season the NRL should make a stand.

Packer was lucky he didn't kill someone, his sentence was severely light in the first place.

I believe BA said in a radio interview that Wicks is definitely signed. I'm guessing he has to wait until the end of his WADA ban before they can actually sign something and announce it.

I will be interested to see what happens here, given that he is not an Australian citizen and he is currently serving a 2 year prison sentence for an indictable criminal offence. I understand it to be standard practice of the Department of Immigration to immediately deport non-citizens upon their release from prison after an indictable criminal offence.

It doesn't say that the NRL are happy to have him play. In fact, the article states that the apparent signing (which is contradicted by the SMH) is risk coz the NRL may refuse to register his contract.

Back in the early 80s, the NSWRL were happy for a bloke who robbed my grandfather at knifepoint to play for Newtown on weekend release from prison.

Different world then I guess.....and the bloke has gone on to straighten himself out and contribute significantly to the community...so I guess some good came from it. Didn't do my pop much good though, but he bore him no malice.

Good win by penrith in the NSW cup..

They have alot of talent in their ranks.

Gus should get the NRL to bring in a tranfer fee make some money out of the players too good for NSW cup but wont get a start in their first grade team..
