You're not getting it are you? Peter came through in 2012. At the time we'd just signed Boyd, McManus was younger, Uate was still playing well and had just signed a long-term extension, Gagai had just signed and Kev Naiqama who also couldn't crack the starting line up was older and ahead of him in NSW Cup.
It wasn't that Peter wasn't considered good enough...if that were the case he wouldn't have been offered an extension. It's the basic fact that he had at least 6 players ahead of him and Bennett, doing the right thing by him, encouraged him to move on to a club where he had a greater chance of playing FG (but if he didn't want to they were very happy for him to stay hence the contract being offered).
It's different now though. Boyd is leaving, as will Gidley in 2016, McManus is getting on in years, Uate won't be offered another contract unless his form picks up drastically, there's rumours of Gagai going to Brisbane in 2016...if those boys want FG spots they're not going to have a heap in front of them in 2016 like Peter did.
Um, three of the ones you named were Bennett's boys (he recruited them) and the other was a former Knights player that didn't want to leave to begin with.
Very poor point.
