Thanks for that,I just know from my team that what it was around the time Locky was playing.

Maybe Lockyer was giving back to the club and on a reduced contract, who knows to be honest, it wouldn't surprise me, he received plenty of offers for bigger money and turned them all down so it is possible.

maybe it's all the grog being drunk today, but a good one from the Jubilee Avenue forum :

Glenn Stewart to get out of Souths contract & link with his brother Brett at the Dragons. Plus Ben Barba to the Sea Eagles

For all you Seagles 'haters', wouldn't it be great to see Ben go to Brookie, they'd have to score one more try for each one he lets in . . . that'd test the old Manly perseverance

Have any of you salary cap experts actually read the NRL salary cap page?

http://www.nrl.com/nrlhq/referencecentre/salarycap/tabid/10434/default.aspx

Unlimited - Players can earn unlimited amounts from corporate sponsors who are not associated with the club and who do not use the game's intellectual property (no club logos, jerseys or emblems) provided these are pre-approved. These agreements may not be negotiated by the club as an incentive for a player to sign a contract, nor can they be guaranteed by the club.

But yeah, it's the Broncos fault hey. Nothing wrong with the system at all.

Even if there is no Dodgyness in the way 3rd party deals are negotiated it still works against the whole idea of the Salary Cap. Play for a high profile club and you are much more likely to get 3rd party deals come your way, can't imagine there would be much value for money for a sponsor to throw money at someone playing for a team that gets f**k all free-to-air games during a season.

High-profile clubs are high-profile clubs because they've had success.

No salary cap in the world can legislate for clubs who are simply more savvy, have better staff and a better overall environment. It's no co-incidence that every side that posters say 'they seem to have a infinite salary cap' are enticing destination clubs in terms of their success.

You have a point on the TV exposure but that's an issue that isn't going away until a CEO decides it's finally time to make it OUR game again, not Nine who see it as a pinata full of dollar bills.

But the problem is the TV coverage. That's the crux of the issue.

I don't give a f*ck how savvy your business acumen. Try convincing a sponsor to throw money at team A with 10 free to air games or team B with one.

Its a no brainer every day of the week.

I pray that Nine get the arse with every fibre of my being when time comes to negotiate the next deal.

TV is part of it but its more about big business and the access to rich blokes with plenty of money to throw around that brings. I'd say a good chunk of third party deals never go public and never have any actual activity involved for the player.

Anyway this debate could go on forever, the NRL isn't interested in changing anything. May as well get on with it.

Yep, old news for Dragons fans - story posted on Telegraph site tonight & will be confirmed within a week ( could be even tomorrow or Friday ). There could be others leaving ( Nightingale & Merrin ), they tried to offload Farrell to Sharks, but they were told he had injury concerns so they said no.

But in BIG news for the Dragons, they might be signing George Rose & other bargain forwards.

If the DT is right and the Morris boys are set to re-unite at the Dogs, it will probably kill off a few rumours surrounding their other potential purchases. I assume B-Moz will be fullback if he goes.

Not so sure.

Radio today said they believe Brett Morris & Hoffman will be at the Dogs.

Though regardless if Morris comes he or Perrett could play fullback with the other on the wing.

Mata'utai boys agent sounds like he was trying to get some more money for them then.

Not at all.

Sam Perrett, Jacob Loko, Thompson and Chase Stanley all off contract then.

I'd imagine Sam may retire. Loko & Stanley would be one or two injury away from giving it up too.

I see Sione as the long term fullback to be honest.

That said I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled out to stay at Knights. They will no doubt guilt them all year and throw massive massive money to keep them for the fans.

If true,

B Morris
Perrett
J Morris
Lafai
Rona

Backline doesn't look so bad anymore!!!

I'd leave Perrett at fullback for the year until Sione gets there. Morris on the wing. They can trial and see who goes better though might be an idea.

Great depth too IF they aren't injured in Stanley, Loko and then Thompson.

Man I hope it's true.
