FPN a notable exclusion. No great loss.

On Watene-Zelezniak

"Born in Ngaruawahia, he moved to Sydney at a young age and represented New South Wales U18s, but faced with a decision between Australian Schoolboys and Junior Kiwis last year, he chose the latter and declared his allegiance to his country of birth."

Always love seeing this. We've got a good future with Taumalolo RTS and this kid.

I hope we've also taken a stand on JWH. Absolute idiot, gives away crucial penalties at such crucial moments. We don't need that type of crap.

IS JTS any good?

And I'd hope Zack Docker Clay, Havili or Manaia Cherrington were pushing for a bench hooking role by the next world cup

I've seen highlights of JTS and heard he's good but only relying off that and the fact his brother is a star but there are other very capable players like Hiku and Goodall.

Nice of the roosters to decide to withdraw both JHW & RTS due to 'burnout'.

Since when has burnout been an acceptable reason to bar your players from international duty.

Will be interesting to see if Daniel Tupou, Michael Jennings, James Maloney, Mitchell Pearce, Boyd Cordner, Aidan Guerra, Jake Friend and Dylan Napa are also suffering from this fatigue.

Switch Blair for Proctor (Taumololo needs to be playing through the centre) and I'd be happy, given the squad named.

This squad really isn't inspiring though. I lost all faith in Kearney after his team selection in the last WC final, and this isn't helping get any of that faith back. Some unavailabilities are out of his control - I'm massively disappointed that RTS isn't going to get his shot at fullback (stuff the Roosters, put your foot down - unless he needs surgery they shouldn't be ruling him out), and I'm guessing Konny is hurt given his end to the season.

Buuuut where's Hoffman and/or Laumape (young guy, left centre - a trouble position - played something like 30 NRL games and I can't recall him ever having a bad one, he wouldn't let anyone down - if only you could say the same for Beale)? On the other hand, it is kind of nice to see Feki get into the squad as he looks a good one in first grade.

If we had an environment worth being a part of, I don't imagine we'd be getting as many withdrawals as we do.

But our coach is a mug, and it sounds like the World Cup was a shitstorm.

So no surprises, especially JWH.

Havili's had Christmas come twice in one year, he's going to play Australia again first-up is he not?

And yet the latest test camp appeared to be the opposite, the newbies seemed to have pride in the jersey...maybe the omission of a few of the so-called senior players meant a better culture and atmosphere was revived and it felt to them like it was really something to be part of. I think that's what kearney & co are aiming for & they have been quite adamant they are looking to the future. Good on them - build a winning culture and the results will come in time.

Time (and results) will tell I suppose.
