Football aside, how do people think Watmough will fit in to the side?

I can't imagine him having much in common with many of our players. What the f**k do they even talk about when there is some down time?

Anthony is a fan of playing Sneaky Turds. Should be quite a hit in the dressing shed, and might get some of the young blokes to lighten up a bit.

I think he'll talk about how much he misses the beach n stuff and what a shithole parra is and how much he regrets signing cos all the others are westie trogs

I remember that Mau was on the right to protect Sandow in defense and when he went off, Edwards moved to the right to protect Sandow.

Edwards played left until he got injured

At the beginning of the year when everyone was fit Ma'u played left and Edwards played right.

*EDIT* Benny Smith opened the year on the right with Edwards playing lock.

What about someone's shoe??? I really think Julian O'Neil was a footballer ahead of his time.

The best I've heard (from the bloke who told me about the game) was this (and it is likely total bullshit I guess): Two guys had been playing sneaky turds against each other and gradually 'upping the stakes'. The game ended when one of them scooped the top off a tub of butter/margarine, did his business, then replaced the scoop of butter on top of it. checkmate.

So today starts day 1 of pre-season for 2015. Day 1 without Jarryd at training. Day 1 of BA bringing this mob together and starting to form them into the team that we will all follow with our hearts through the highs and lows of another season supporting the mighty Parramatta Eels.

I can understand why some of us aren't happy with all the signings and are worrying about how we will replace the irreplaceable Jarryd Hayne but worrying doesn't fix things and we need to see what BA and his coaching staff can do for Round 1.

Here is my revised round 1 team now the roster seems to be finalised:

1. Hoppa
2. Semi
3. Brad T
4. Champion
5. Robinson
6. Norman
7. Sandow
8. Mannah
9. Peats
10. Junior
11. Edwards
12. Ma'u
13. Watmough

14. Gower
15. Moerea
16. Mossop
17. Wicks/Fa'aoso

With everyone fit, it's going to leave a pretty strong Wenty pack and a team with some NRL experience.
1. Hunt
2. Faraimo
3. Toutai
4. Morgan
5. Crooks
6. Matterson
7. Kelly
8. Lussick
9. De Gois
10. Allgood
11. Nelson
12. Pauli
13. Seffa

Plus all the young'uns fighting for a spot like Alvarao, etc.
Seems to me like BA understands that game is won in the forwards and he has built up the squad in this area with a combination of youth and experience and enough players to keep the pressure on the top 17 and to cover for injuries if needed.

Can't wait for the kick off to round 1.

MacPherson?

He's a far better player than Allgood or Lussick. Demote one of them to the Wenty bench?
And have we definitely kept Seffa? (please no)

I'd probably like to see Moeroa start with Edwards or Ma'u off the bench. Moeroa has a much higher ceiling than either bloke, and much better size.

Seffa for 2 more years was announced yesterday OMC.
Agree with potentially McPherson but he is on a train and trial contract so not sure whether they will want value for money from Allgood & Lussick and one of Fa'aoso and Wicks will have to drop back to Wenty too.

Moeroa, Edwards and Manu will rotate no doubt.

Yeah I should read my emails...

Speak to your mates, they will tell you there is a 0% chance of Allgood or Lussick playing for the Eels in 2016. I could see them playing firsts ahead of MacPherson (in the event of 2nd tier shenanigans), but if they are in Wenty, it might make more sense to start MacPherson, because it is more likely he is with us in 2016 on a minimum deal.

FWIW: I've heard it alleged Allgood + Lussick make over $600k combined. That's why they will be flicked - MacPherson takes a spot at 80, and chance to splash on an Origin level player with the rest.

Well, Lussick would be a surprise, I think he is in the top 4 prop rotation. I like your team MJC and I think 40/20's is probably on mark from the other week too. My attempt:

William Hoppa
Reece Robinson
Beau Champion
Brad Takairangi
Semi Radradra
Corey Norman
Chris Sandow
Tim Mannah
Nathan Peats
Darcy Lussick
Manu Ma'u
Tepai Moeroa
Anthony Watmough
Pauli Pauli
Junior Paulo
Lee Mossop
Danny Wicks

and thus Wenty:

Justin Hunt
Halauafu Lavaka
Vai Toutai
Ryan Morgan
Fabian Goodall
Joseph Paulo
Ryan Matterson
Mitchell Allgood
Kaysa Pritchard
Richie Fa'oso
David Gower
Kenny Edwards
Shannon McPherson
Isaac De-Gois
Peni Terepo
Cody Nelson
Daniel Alvaro

Which leaves out Crooks (unseen), Folau, Faraimo & Kelly.

The competition for the outside backs in both grades and injuries will dictate who gets what, but I can see Morgz in NRL pushing Champion to the wing, Robinson to Wenty fullback.

The NRL bench backrowers is hotly contested too, I have gone for Wicks and Pauli hoping their talent comes to fruition but can easily have Gower and Edwards there too.

The starting NRL forward pack has some steel and I think Lussick in amongst that will be for the better of the team too. Having Jnr and Pauli come on and reap the reward of a tough starting pack.

I think he is too, for next year. But he is surely on at least twice as much as a few other tight forwards who are nearly as good. That's why I don't think we'll re-sign him. If he has to take a pay cut (and he will) then I expect he'll go back to Manly where there's a shorter commute.

The exception is if he kills it next year. Then he will go to the highest bidder in 2016 (due to our forward depth that probably won't be us).

Dont know where, but I have always understood his pay to be $800 over three years or $266 per, thats reasonable isnt it?

So in line with OMC's, Allgood + Lussick = $600, then Allgood maybe the same money and perhaps OMC's info being a smidge inflated, the pays sounds in the park..?

1. Robinson - Not many other options
2. Semi
3. Hoppa - Not sold on him at fullback. Slow but strong defensively
4. Champion
5. ??? Faraimo probably
6. Norman
7. Sandow
8. Mannah
9. Peats
10. Junior Paulo
11. Edwards
12. Ma'u
13. Watmough

14. Joseph Paulo/Takairangi - Similar players with ball playing ability
15. Moerea - Play in middle third but fringe back row if needed
