Found this on the NRL website this morning, this is how they see us lining up for RD1.

PARRAMATTA EELS
1. Will Hopoate, 2. Semi Radradra, 3. Brad Takairangi, 4. Ryan Morgan, 5. Vai Toutai, 6. Corey Norman, 7. Chris Sandow, 8. Tim Mannah (c), 9. Nathan Peats, 10. Junior Paulo, 11. Kenny Edwards, 12. Anthony Watmough, 13. Joseph Paulo. Interchange: 14. Isaac De Gois, 15. Manu Ma'u, 16. Darcy Lussick, 17. Tepai Moeroa.

The Eels look slightly different without one Jarryd Hayne playing centre stage at Pirtek, but who can blame a Minto kid for chasing his dreams? They'll give their highest-paid quick man Will Hopoate first crack in the No.1, opening a centre spot for someone such as big Brad Takairangi or an older head like Beau Champion. The return of an aggressive Nathan Peats brings a bit of relief in terms of firepower, but most of the spotlight will be on Manly renegade Anthony Watmough and how quickly he can bring Parramatta's band of young hitmen up to speed. Keep in mind: Chris Sandow's in a contract year, too. The last time that happened, he played well enough to land one of the biggest contracts in the league.

Swap Sef Paulo for Gower and I'd be happy with that.

EDIT: just saw Degois on the bench. Swap him for Gower instead.

They have no f**ken idea - Watmough starts as edge forward yet plays in the middle and he can't swap with Paulo as he aren't an edge player. One prop on the bench with two 80 min edge players ??? Yeah that would make Arthur's interchanges interesting.

Poorly Poorly may have alot to say about this as well, depending on his pre season form, he is gonna be pretty big at the end of the off season and could come back pretty hard to get his spot back.

He could be the other prop on the bench as we probabaly dont need DeGois with Peats being a 80 minute player.

May also depend on our opposition and game plan as we have options atm.

I saw his starting team debut at Cumberland in 1980 with my old man (and pop I think). Probably same game. I was on the hill at one end of the ground. All I can remember of the opposition (Newtown) is that Graeme O'Grady (beardy boy) and Raudonikis played

I was on the western side of the ground, slightly to the northern side of the sideline. I mostly remember Kenny playing outside Cronin. It looked as though Cronin was looking after him.

I would have DeGoise on the bench to give Peats a rest. If I was the coach I'd be relying on Peats for leadership in both attack and defence - and I wouldn't want to burn him out. I still think there's room in the NRL for a hooker rotation.

Yeah I would have IDG on the bench as well, but would have both Peats and IDG on at the same time

What's the point of bringing on IDG if he isn't going to give Peats a rest???

Makes no sense at all, I understand playing him on the bench to give him a rest because the mad merkin plays way above his weight but why weaken two positions???

Peats is our best hooker by far and I see no reason at all to pick two Dummy halves in the squad but playing Peats at lock makes no sense at all.

especially when we got Watmough playing 80.

i cant see at some point in the game:

Mannah
De gois
Watmough
edge forward
edge forward
peats

too small!

I'd play DeGois as well as Peats too...along with Watmough they are the three best defenders at the club. Allows us to play more attacking players, particularly on the edges, while still having Watmough Peats DeGois making 150 tackles between them. Peats is a perfectly capable lock option. as is DeGois.

We need the defence, they are two of our better defenders in the team.
And Peats has shown he can handle lock well throughout the past couple of seasons as well.

150 tackles between them? For that to happen they'd need to be playing 80 minutes each and just be tackling non-stop. Do you really expect us to turn that much ball over next year that they'll be making 50 tackles each?

Yeah I meant to say 120. Given Peats and Watmough are likely to play 80 mins I don't think that's impossible.

I don't think de gois is that great a defender. Sure, he tries his arse off but IMO he is weak in the wrestle. We weaken the middle and lose go forward if de gois is on with peats
