This years MVP?

with durant out, and lebron not so lebron (whatever that means), it looks like the MVP race is wide open.

who do you guys have as your #1 choice for this? Lebron? Harden? Curry? Davis? Kyrie? maybe KD still when he comes back and ressurrects OKC?

For me, its still Lebron. He's got the weight of the world on his shoulders and i think its pretty amazing how he's still been able to conduct his business on the court, despite all the distractions. A few gaffes here and there (like last night against the Spurs), but the man is the probably the most valuable player, not just in basketball, but all sports right now.

At this stage Lillard/Curry are joint MVP's imo. If either of those two can keep going and get their teams 55+ wins they're a massive chance..

On the other hand Anthony Davis has a crazy efficiency rating of 34.... He's playing a video game most games...

Way too early to call it but I guess I'd put Lebron as the favourite by default.
Davis is a chance if New Orleans can make the playoffs.

I had Curry as a bit of an outsider pick at the start of the year. If he keeps up what he's been doing he could go close.

Despite a few hiccups as a team Lebron has still been quality, he'll obviously be favourite especially once the Cavs get their shit together which you'd have to assume they eventually will.

Also agreed with the other suggestions, Davis is fast becoming a freak and Lillard has been great. Was particularly impressed with the way he just took over the team when Aldridge missed a couple of games and they kept winning.

Curry.

But there's no point asking me as I'm a massive fan boy, & the reason I go for Golden State. HIs shit is pure white.

But as said above, if Cleveland get their shit together in the next few weeks, Lebron will ride it home.

I have to say, I do love me some Steph Curry. Only just recently though, as I couldnt have said that at the start of the season. He's killing it on the floor right now, draining 3's, scoring +20 points, and helping his team with +10 assists. A gem to watch.

The question i have is whether its sustainable, as there still something like 70+ games still to play in the season......

Maybe this is just one of those linsanity type moments. Enjoy it while it lasts.....

Pfft Linsanity, Curry is nothing like that. He's always had the tools and has been quality for a while, he's just gradually improving on what he already had and perhaps taking the next level up to the point of real stardom/MVP contender status.

So far I'd have Curry as well. I think Anthony Davis is playing well but until his team is a playoff threat he doesn't deserve to be mentioned. Matter of fact I just looked at the Race2MVP rankings and they had Curry in at 9th and Klay Thompson at 4th which I find ridiculous.

Whilst obvious I don't agree with that, I think Thompson playing well will be a hindrance to Curry's chances. In the same way that having two star players in an NRL side stops an individual raking up Dally M points.

If we're talking flopping, Curry is easily MVP with daylight second. Weak merkin.

On actual MVP, David would have to be up there if he keeps his start going, Howard would be a chance too if he isn't out for too long, but my money's on Blake Griffin. Started slowly but I think we'll see a lot more dominant performances like last night from here on in.

True, I'd like for Thompson to maybe win most improved player though. That would be a good reward for him.

I've changed my pick to Cousins...The guy is beasting while leading his team to wins. Been a while since the Kings actually looked good.

If they can somehow get 50 wins while maintaining his current productivity, he's favourite imo...

Well spotted.

Was about to mention DeMarcus Cousins.

He's an absolute beast as has been putting up 25 & 15 type numbers all season in a winning team.

I have $10 on Marc Gasol @ $73 (Grizzlies killing atm) and $10 on Demarcus Cousins @ $66.

Fairly open award race atm. We'll see how everyone is going after Xmas because right now doesn't mean a whole lot.

Haven't seen a big man win it for a while. If the Pelicans don't make the 8 surely Davis can't be MVP?

Just came in here to suggest Gasol.

I don't think he will, because Curry is in God Mode.

But Gasol is in Beast Mode. And he singlehandedly won me a lot of money lol.

Nice bets..prob won't happen but definitely worth taking at those prices..

The thing i like about Gasol and Cousins is that they are clearly the best players in their team.
Durant has Westbrook, LBJ has Kyrie and Love, Steph has Klay who can outshoot him on any given day (and atm Speights  )
