I didnt think Hoppa went that well at centre. I couldnt justify keeping him on 500k+ a season if he was to stay there for the future.

He was doing well considering what he had just come back from. Now that he's bigger and has been working on his sprinting I have no doubt that he'll be able to create more for himself and break the line more often and when he does he can get into the open. If he reaches his potential he's easily worth $700k.

Yes at the right price he may be ok but isn't that the same with every player? You need to buy players for your roster that can meet the team needs but you need to find the right value for each player so that you can fit that into your cap and your succession plans for your team.

Yeah it is. I reckon Beale would be a good fit for us. He has a good passing game which can make up for the fact that our halves aren't the best passers. His running game is also pretty good and he was able to beat some of the better defences when he was playing well.

If he can get his head right off the field then he'll be a fantastic player.

If he does play fullback then yeah he's worth $700k, that's what I was basing my comment off though. Top centres would start getting around $600k though.

10 year plan!!!:lol::lol::lol:

?That?s my job,? Stuart said. ?I am here to get it right. This is about making the right decisions today for the next 10 years ? not for the next couple of seasons. Although we had a tough season this year I enjoyed coaching again."

Well, there you have it, straight from the horse's mouth - what Ricky brought to the table in 2013 was not coaching...

if there's one thing dave smith is doing right, it is trying to instill more corporate savvy board members and corporate governance, look at the chooks for example, here's their board;

NICK POLITIS AM
Executive Chairman of WFM Motors

MARK BOURIS
Mark is Executive Chairman of Yellow Brick Road Wealth Management

SRBoard - Mark McInnes
CEO of Premier Retail (ASX..PMV) and Director of Premier Investments ( ASX..PMV)
Mark has over 25 years experience in retail , including in his former position as CEO of David Jones Ltd.

PETER NEWTON
Peter is Chairman and majority shareholder of All*-States Finance Pty. Limited
Formerly one of the largest and most successful backers of the WA mining industry and co-founder of Metals X Limited.

BRIEN SAMPHIER
Brien is the founder & Managing Director of B&B Electrical & Consulting Services Pty, Ltd. a specialist electrical company in the Coal Mining Industry

MARK FENNESSY
CEO of Shine Australia & President of Shine Network
Shine is responsible for brands such as The Voice, MasterChef, So You Think You Can Dance & Australia's Next Top Model.
He was previously Director of Nine Sports

LUKE RICKETSON
married to a waterhouse

all these blokes have access to a network of people that they do business with, or more specifically people that want to do business with them and have no interest generally in the sydney roosters.

now think of our board and consider how that compares?

I'm not sure David Smith had too much input on who should be on the Roosters board, I think they worked it out themselves.

You would imagine David Gyngell would also be on the board, except that would limit the Roosters options for independent third party sponsor money.

Most of that board has been there well before Dave smith, my point is this the type of corporate network smith is trying to influence all clubs to replicate

FoxSports say that ARU are re-signing Beale for 1 yr deal. So he won't be available for 2015.

Is he the dude that beat Hayne in that race. I think he came second to another Union bloke.

That was Lachie Turner if my memory serves me right. The other chap was John Grant who signed with the Tigpies but never made it past the NSW Cup.

As for O'Connor, I would personally pass. Talented for sure but considerably over rated for mine. Plus everything I've heard about him from those that know him leads me to believe he fosters just about the biggest ego in the Wallabies - which is no mean feat.

I think Beale is the better player and even then I would be hesitant to take him.

Agree with your comment on O'Conor. From what I hear he is not the type of individual we need at the club. Not a real team player and when you are trying to build a team culture where everyone thinks of the team goal first not their personal gain first - O'Conor can stay in rah rah land.

Nah there's no way I'd want JOC even if he was available. From memory he doesn't really have a great passing game and like most Union players isn't the best of defenders. The best position for him would probably be wing and he's a bit short for wing in League and he'd be way too expensive just to play there.
