Not a ridiculous thing to say.
Don't get me wrong Sione will be a good player and have a long career in the NRL and go on and play many rep games but I don't think he'll be the superstar that some Knight fans that think he will be.
A good comparison will be Karmichael Hunt
Both represented their club and country at a very young age.
I would say both didn't really deserve to be picked but got picked because of their mature bodies and injuries to other player/players.
Both players have a good all round game but nothing really in their game that stood out.
I never thought Karmichael Hunt was a superstar of the game.
Some Broncos fan thought he was, I wasn't one of them.
He lacked that bit of individual brilliance.
Karmichael was a good quality rep player. Tough as nails, safe as houses and you could always rely on him with the sweep player.

Hunt didn't even spend much of his career in the NRL but if Sione can reach the level he did before he left then I think Knights fans will be very happy.

Regardless of whether he should have been picked or not, Sione was chosen for Australia and didn't look out of place at 18. Unless Gagai has a massive change in his defence I'd be very surprised if he ever reaches that (especially if he keeps playing under Wayne who hasn't addressed the issue).

I hope Gagai goes on and kills it wherever he plays. He's a gem with the fans and media and has been a good addition to the squad...however the Knights have 3 FG quality centres and 2 spots. If we lose one (I hope it's not two) then I'd prefer to keep the one that's proven he can make the step up to rep footy (at 18) over one that might never overcome often being a liability at club level due to his defence.

If Hayne signs with Detroit

Keiran Foran to Parra

Mcrone to Manly

Jarryd Hayne is only going to sign a practice squad contract with Detroit ( or possibly another team ). He could be released at any point ( after a week or possibly a few months ). He is still a long way from actually playing in the NFL. ( I hope he does, but it's a longshot )

Greg Inglis to rugby union. This keeps resurfacing...

Greg Inglis shopped to French rugby clubs for 2016
Date February 14, 2015 - 11:45PM

Greg Inglis has been shopped to European rugby clubs for 2016 in the biggest indication yet that this will be his last season with South Sydney.

Fairfax Media can reveal the Inglis camp has engaged an overseas agent to offer the star's services to French clubs at the starting price of €800,000 ($1.17 million). Widely regarded as the game's best player, "GI" is contracted to the Rabbitohs until the end of 2017. However, the club granted Sam Burgess an early release to allow him to pursue his dreams in the 15-man code.

The loss of Inglis, so soon after the departure of Burgess, Sonny Bill Williams and Jarryd Hayne to other codes, would be an unmitigated disaster for the NRL. The Queensland and Australian fullback is already the captain of his club, the face of the game and is tipped to become a future Immortal. The 28-year-old is also the ultimate poster boy for the code, particularly given his status as a role model in the Indigenous community.

However, he almost walked away from league previously, to join AFL powerhouse Essendon, with the latest developments suggesting he is again craving a new challenge. Overseas sources confirmed Inglis had been shopped to cashed-up clubs, which could afford to table salaries that would dwarf what he could earn by remaining with the premiers. It's expected negotiations with English and French clubs will intensify when Inglis leads the Rabbitohs squad for their World Club Series campaign against St Helens at Langtree Park.

Recently promoted French Top 14 club Lyon, whose head coach is Australian Tim Lane, was one of the franchises offered Inglis' services for 2016. "His manager has gone through an agent who works in France and is seeing if there is interest in him coming over to rugby," said Lyon's defensive coach, David Ellis.

"His name has been bandied about. I think ... the agent has gotten in contact with us because we've got Tim Lane as director of rugby, there's myself as defence coach and we've got Scott Wisemantel, another former Australian rugby league player, on our staff as well. Obviously when his name was mentioned I said 'yes' but when we got to talking it was far too much for us. They were talking about 800,000 [euros]."

NRL chief executive Dave Smith has given himself discretionary powers to recruit or retain marquee players over and above the salary cap. As yet, the secret fighting fund hasn't been tested but Inglis, as a Clive Churchill medallist and Golden Boot winner, would surely qualify. However, there would be a backlash from rival clubs if Souths, already the premiers, were given an even bigger advantage over the rest of the competition.

The fact that Rabbitohs young gun Alex Johnson, an aspiring fullback, is coming off contract at the end of the year only adds further intrigue to the situation. Ellis, who played against the father of the Burgess quartet, predicted the cash available overseas couldn't be matched in Australia. "Some of the top clubs like Toulon and Racing Metro, I'd imagine they are the two with the budget and financial backing that would go for him," he said.

"If you would say a favourite, Toulon would be that because their owner is always after the best and Greg Inglis is probably the best rugby [league] player at the moment. Lyon is a club which was promoted last year, we're in the Top 14 this year and it will take us two or three years to get established in the league.

"After that we'd be interested but that would probably be too late for him. But for clubs like Toulon, Racing Metro and one or two others, they would be very interested in him. I would imagine it wouldn't take Greg Inglis too long to adapt [to rugby]."

I posted this in the confirmed thread... I thought it might be just as appropriate here...

Good on Matai... And good on Manly.

I must say I'm pretty surprised considering he actually requested a release...

I think that this could tip the balance back over for Foran... Maybe Foran was waiting on Matai signing.

I'm wondering though if this will have an impact on keeping both halves... As I don't think they could have afforded to resign Foran, DCE and Matai.

This is just me speculating... But I wonder if Manly have seen the writing on the wall with DCE at the Titans... So they have decided to use a portion of the money they set aside for DCE to resign Matai which may well guarentee that Foran resigns with them.
