Parra Centres

our centres this year look better than last year (on potential).

If he fires, Champion is fringe Origin level.
Taka is a real handful out wide, very hard to handle.

I am mildly concerned over Taka defensively, mainly being in the right position. But both he and Champion have legit size, and make us stronger defensively out wide than we were last year.

Agreed.

If champion gets anywhere near fringe origin level id be suprised. There is 32 centres in each round. If he made it too the top 16 id be very happy.

In regards to origin & that list you could count out

Lyon, matai, hodges, reed, hurrell, gagai, what're, Nielsen and chambers

Because they are either retired from rep football, from nz or qld. And I reckon he'd be ahead of linnet and Croker and on par with Lawrence , leillua and Lafai.

There really isn't that many in front of him. Only Jennings, Morris, Ferguson and Idris.

What im getting at is there are about 20 centres id rather in our team.I he get in the top 16 than he would be getting my tick of approval.

By memory champion went well. But he was injured and switched clubs at bad times in his career.

I don't think Champion is as good as any of those blokes.
Although Lawrence has gone downhill fast the last couple of years.

When was the last time Champion played First Grade?

Beau Champions best football has been at right centre outside of Chris Sandoiw, If he can be anywhere near that level again we will get some value out of him.

Konrad Hurrell. He would be my first option. He is off contract next year and the Warriors are about to open up on contract negotiations. If we want to really get a quality centre that is coming into his prime, this is the guy. I reckon we could get him for around $500k.

He is one of those players that changes the course of a game all on his own. At the moment we have no one that can do what he can. I would go hard for him.

Warriors set to open negotiations with Hurrell

Stuff.co.nz
– February 15, 2015

The New Zealand Warriors will soon open negotiations with Konrad Hurrell's management over a new contract. Hurrell's deal he signed midway through the 2012 season comes to an end this year, something that the other 15 NRL sides and European rugby clubs are well aware of.While the Warriors hold an option to extend his contract for another year, they realise it's better for them to renegotiate another long-term contract early this season.
The 23-year-old had the best season of his career last year and has impressed the coaches with his professional attitude to training and preparation. He is one of the most deadly centres in the NRL and a number of clubs have already made it know that they'd love to have him.
For the future success of the Warriors they need to hold onto Hurrell and it would also go down badly with the club's members and fans if one of their favourite players was allowed to leave. That leaves Hurrell in the box seat over those negotiations and he's sure to be looking for a contract of upwards of $300,000 a year, which is what the club were prepared to pay Steve Matai if he was able to get out of his Sea Eagles deal.

Why we re-signed players like Morgan and Toutai is beyond me. They both showed over the last 2 or 3 seasons that they will never be anything close to regular first graders.

I would of let both of them go as their respective contracts came up. Now we are stuck with crap that will never be quality, when the money could of been put to much better use.

The start of 2014. He was in the top 17 players at a club that went on to win the premiership.

Not convinced that they are worth even second string money/contracts. Just taking up space that could be offered to others that have a better up side potential and probably cost less too.

They are starting for Wenty. That means they are first choice backups. Have a look at the other reserve grade teams this weekend and you'll see you overrate the depth at other clubs.

There are only 3 centres on the list that I wouldn't swap for Champion. Then again, they're all probably on more coin. Let's hope he can just do a reasonable job.

From what I've heard Toutai signed for very little, just enough that he was in the Top 25. Of course this is just rumour, but there's no big reports for how much he signed for so we won't ever know the true value of the contract.

Morgan's contract finishes this year, if it were up to me I'd be looking to shift him and Faraimo before the 30th of June deadline though.

What would be the point of that? We'd still have paid him almost all of his money, and we've lost him as a depth player. Nothing to gain by shifting them by June 30.
