The only way I can see the discretionary allowance working is ifs a percentage of the registered contract, something like %50. That way the clubs won't be able to low ball and rely on the NRL topping it up.

Triple m announces that burges is keen to come back...

Fwiw, Sam has just bought himself a house over there.

I know that doesn't mean a lot these days as he could probably just up root and rent the thing out / keep it as an investment but it certainly doesn't seem like the type of thing someone would do if they only intended on staying in a place for a short period of time.

No one. Panthers need space for Merrin and Souths need backup considering Kyle Turner might be out for the season. Just a rumour though.

Sika is off contract after this season i think. I still wouldnt be suprised if we let him go earlier but the Merrin part doesnt make sense unless we are chasing Merrin for this season.

It sounds plausible but Manu leaving mid this season doesn't help us with the cap next season. Well it shouldn't.

If a player like Burgess comes back any marquee allowance should be smaller if any if a club offers a small sum to try and get them back. So no say 300k from souths with a big top up from nrl. The marquee should be scaled. A team lowballing to try and get a free ride should get less help. Souths offer 300k hoping nrl will provide a big hand out and cap consession for their premiership side and say Titans offer 700k then the difference between the help should be 400k the difference between the offers. So 500k marquee for Titans should only be 100k for souths for example.

You can spell premature, but you don't know how to spell too?

:p

I would agree with you, it does seem a little premature.
But when you think about the sort of people in England that play/run Rugby and think about Sam, then maybe he realised his mistake 15 minutes after he landed in England.

The NRL or Super League would welcome him back with open arms.

What a right Feki up on my part! Faking spell check!

Agree with your last part.

Lmfao. The f**k are you talking about? If Sam comes back then he should be getting a regular salary.

Sure it does. It's not just two players under the cap, if they let Sika go then they have the opportunity to front load some contracts into this year which will open up more space for next year

Yeah which shouldn't be allowed imo. I prefer to dream we're trying to manoeuvre for Merrin this season.

It should be to the highest bidder for under the cap money. If the NRL are going to be topping it up to get him back into league,it should be to the team that will pay the most cap money for him.

So if teh NRL says we will give Sam 1.2mil to come back and Souths say they can afford 300k under the cap but the Tits can give 800k under the cap as the highest bidder, he obviously goes to the Tits. The only way I can see this discretionary being fair.
