The Pearce Problem

I'm usually one of his biggest detractors but even I admit that his in good form at the moment, and it looks likely he will get picked
But what happens if he gets picked in game 1 and puts in his usual horrid performance for the blues?
Do we drop him and put someone new in for a do or die match
Do we persevere even though it would of been his 13 chance to prove himself?

Hard to see why they would change a winning team. Even if they do I think A. Reynolds is in better form than Pearce.

Pearce is an overrated gimp whose reputation is built on being Wayne Pearce's son and a Roosters player.

He will fail again if picked at NSW #7 and you can quote me on it if/ when he does.

Mitchell Pearce is in the best form of his life. He will thrive at Origin level. There is no "Pearce problem."
Remember a few yrs ago he was playing very well at club level .
Sticky even said he would be AUST no 7 Soon .
Picked for Soo .
Played like a spastic as he always does when needed to step up

There is no doubt he is a great club player, but at that next level his decision making has been found wanting under pressure. I don't think Hodkinson is as good a player as Pearce, but he doesn't wilt under pressure which makes him better at that level.

Mitchell Pearce, if selected for Origin with James Maloney, Michael Jennings, Daniel Tupou and Boyd Cordner this year, will shine.

If Fifita stays fit and plays every game up until SOO Pearce will have more time than he has ever had in SOO.

Another horrible effort from Pus and Failoney today. So many bad options, complete lack of composure as usual.

I think Daley is going to end up shooting himself in the foot with the insistence that the halves are based off club combinations. There's no NSW combination playing for a club that deserve to both be playing Origin.

As it is the choice seems to be between Pearce/Maloney or Hodkinson/Reynolds

It's flat out geniused - they generally play on opposite sides of the field anyway, so not really much more of a combination than the two centres - 9 and 7 a more important combination...

Ridiculous though, if Cooper Cronk, JT or DCE were NSW players he wouldn't pick them by this logic

Hodgkinson and Reynolds didn't win the series for NSW, it was Hayne and our forward pack, plain and simple. If they both get picked we will get slaughtered this year. With the injury to A Reynolds, It'll be Pearce and perhaps Maloney..... or Jack Bird :sarcasm:

Pearce and Maloney turn up for one week against a shit team and then get called the best halves in NSW, and the next week they just fall into utter shit. Dunno what the hype about Pearce is, he was crap yesterday, Maloney was even worse.

Pearce has proven he's not up to it. I'd put Hodkinson in again as he's at least shown the necessary composure. Without Hayne though NSW are in a spot of bother.
