So much for the academy....

Scott, choc, Gower, wicks, Richie, peats, de gois, Paulo, Manu, Edwards, lusick and a host of others.

Which juniors will get a run in the forwards. Even the backs are bought and are established first graders.

Mannah, Moeroa and Junior Paulo. Radradra and Folau in the backs.

That's five that came through our under 20s team. Plus there's a few in reserve grade and NYC who might still become first graders.

Radradra is from Fiji, not a Parra junior which I think is the point that was being raised. Personally I don't care where our players come from as long as they are passionate about wearing our colours.

Semi played one season in the 20's, and Mannah played the first season in 08.

The point is we had 'the academy' rammed down our throats by SK all those years ago. Seems as thou BA is going in a slightly different direction.

You would always expect a few juniors come thru the system, it's only natural. But it's obvious BA is looking outside 'the academy'.

Also, no doubt we are bound to lose a few juniors. Will terepo, meroa and Pauli all hang around if not playing grade next year?

The academy isnt about identifying 20 year olds that are ready for first grade, it is abòut finding and developing 15-18 year olds that you can hang onto and bring through the ranks. Kearney put the academy in place in 2011 so most of the talent that would have been 'academised' are running around in NYC, pushing through into Wenty when they are too old for NYC or are in and out of FG.

Semi/Vai/Pauli Pauli/Tepai/Kaysa/Docker-Clay/Lavaka/Aloi/Goodall and more are all the first graduates of the academy.

Still to come are: Dargan, French, Fuiamanao, Davis, Tepai-Smith and more that I have no idea about.

It is the fact that there was no thought to the future and the impatience of the fans and voting members that required BA to go and buy the experience we need now. This experience will be the difference between the guys above making it or falling into the 'what could have been' basket. and yes, we will lose some from the academy like Kelepi but you cant keep them all.

1996 - 2002 - 7 yrs are some guys that come thru (I think most thru system)
Michael hodgson-Vella-cayless-moran-Natahn cayless-casey McGuire-Kidwell-burt-Jason cayless-Ian hindmarsh-Nthan hindy-Ryan-Lyon-Vaeleki-Tonga-Grothe-Robinson-Pj marsh-Pat Richards-Scot Donald-Ashley graheme

average of 3 a year and a lot of HIGH quality

2003 - 2011 - 9 years A lot of good halves not re-signed.None are regulars in parra's first grade bar Mannah.. So an average of 2 per year

witt,tsoulos-mateo-tim smith-reddy-Hayne-blake green-Inu-T-rex-Maloney-Hodgkinson-Robson-Mortimer-Latimore-wright-lassalo-horo-allgood-morgan-sio-loko-ohnolan.

2012 + Anyone notice anything about this bunch? No white men lol

tafua toupo ( let go prior thou to academy)-tanginoa-vai touati-terepo-Jnr Paulo-Semi-Pauli Pauli-Tepai Moera-Falou.

I think the worse part was our retention in the era when we had not as man guys come thru was who we let go.Maloney/hodgo would be a handy halves combo.

Problem is im guessing most team now would have an academy yeah? We probably where just left behind a little. I think the quality of guys coming thru now are promising.

The Academy won't produce seasoned veterans overnight, folks.

From what I've read about BA, I reckon he's a Bennett style holistic type coach and has looked down the ranks and sees the likes of Pauli, Tepai & Jnr being a couple of years away from being stars, that's why his signings are past their use by dates (Watmough, Scott - although I think he was also a lucky timing signing). Watmough already isn't playing 80 minutes nor predominately edge or middle. I also have faith that BA is talking to the younger players about his long term plans for them. It's what I would do.

On the flip side, I reckon BA's also looked at our long term halves stocks and thinks they are probably non-existent, thus Foran

I think if all goes well he is thinking Foran is one of the halves and either Sandow or Norman partner him for a season or two then Matterson is brought on to partner Foran.

Maybe but if a Foran-Norman or Foran-Sandow partnership work i dont they will change it unless forced (i.e someone making a huge offer to norman or sandow)

I'm not usually one for rumours, but am just putting this one out there to see if anyone else has heard similar.

Not posting names....but have information from the relative of a current tiger who has indicated we are making enquiries into luring them for 2016. Interesting given I'm certain they are not off contract.
